John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

SCHOOL SHOOTINGS, a fresh idea.

Recommended Posts

Perhaps you are like me, or maybe not. I am so tired of hearing how we need to add more gun control laws, as if more laws really do much good. As its been said so many times to the point its redundant, "guns don't kill people, people kill people". We all have heard these shooters are mentally ill, and more tighter laws would prevent these ill people form getting guns. To that I say its pure garbage. If anyone wants a gun they can get one, people sell guns to others all the time, and there is no way to stop private sales of guns.  In reality  guns are not the issue. These killers are evil, sin sick people who not only rejected Christ, but basic human morality.

Here is my suggestion....... Prisons are pretty much able to keep insiders in, and outsiders out,  people on both sides are protected.  Why can't schools be so equipped to keep students protected inside and keep outsiders out. There is no reason why we can't make schools secure, and protect the students inside. Each and every student must be checked, just exactly like when you go to board a plane.

In a number of school shootings the shooters were students of former students, which proves my point that each and every teacher, student, or worker in that school must go through a search of their body by a wand and the bag, back pack, what ever comes in to that school must be checked.

Now I am aware of the work all this requires in making sure our students are totally safe. But as we have heard over and over, at what cost are our children worth? For sure we must now consider our schools to be just or more as secure as we do our prisons, and those prisoners we keep securely inside. I do not want to hear we can't afford the cost, because the cost of not protecting our children at school is even more.

What are your thoughts?

I think the school in whole needs major change.

I agree, those kids are well worth the cost. An idea that popped into my head after reading this is, do kids really need backpacks? Something that never made sense to me is that kids have lockers but still carry around backpacks, apart from doing homework, they could just leave thier books at school or

the books could stay in the classroom.

When were schools not prisons?

In some parts of the country, schools are secured and access is limited. Of course this is not perfect, but mass shootings don't happen in those areas.

This is not a new idea. It's ONE part of a successful plan, that was perfectly obvious 19 years ago in the wake of Columbine. The only thing that's kept us from implementing sound plans are the idiots screaming for more laws. As if criminals were going to suddenly obey laws.

    • Hurrah: Female Marine Completes Gruelling Mountain School For The First Time

By American Media Institute - By Joseph Hammond Sgt. Tara-Lyn Baker is the first woman to become part of the frozen few. Over six grueling weeks, Sgt. Baker demonstrated a range of combat skills in snow and ice to complete the winter mountain leaders course at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center near Bridgeport, California. A video published by the U.S. Marine Corp Times shows the 150 pound Marine executing maneuvers and training exercises. These include carrying a 60 to 90-pound backpack while skiing up steep mountains carrying heavy packs, shooting with deadly accuracy in the snow. Only the most “gung-ho” Marines are up to the challenge. During the course Marines learn how to fight, survive, and maneuver in sub-zero temperatures and is one of the most physically demanding training programs in the U.S. military. Military operations in mountainous areas add the challenge of verticality. Like some of her fellow Marines, Baker said suffered from frostbite and hypothermia. “We learn how to overcome it,” she said. Baker came to the school – located  6,800 feet above sea level – as a Marine Mechanic. In the video, Baker says she’s proud of her accomplishment. The Marines is the last branch of the U.S. armed services that still enforces gender segregation in boot camp but, in January an integrated a Marine training battalion was formed of one male and five male platoons for the first time. Lt. Marina Hierl, 24, became the first female Marine to lead a platoon last year after becoming the first woman to complete the Marines’ 13-week Infantry Officer Course in 2017. The Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center is located at a higher elevation than Camp Ethan Allen Training Site used by the U.S. Army (1,200 feet elevation) or US Navy Mountain Warfare Training Camp Michael Monsoor (3,500 feet elevation). Though at all centers actual training operations are often conducted in the surrounding areas. Specialized American soldiers also attend similar programs in allied countries. The facility was opened in 1951 to train U.S. soldiers for the Korean War. During the Cold War, the facility was used to train soldiers to protect Norway and the rest of NATO’s Northern Flank. The facility had taken on increased importance since September 11, 2001, when it was used in pre-deployment training for U.S. soldiers involved in Operation Enduring Freedom in mountainous Afghanistan. In one training scenario often used by the Marines, the trainee is meant to jump with their skis, poles and a give gallon pack into a hole cut into a frozen lake. “When you jump in, you lose your breath, you kind of lose your head,” said Sgt Aaron Jensen, a student of the school in a 2015 interview. The Marine has to throw the pack out of the water and swim to the edge. Once there, the Marine must verbally request permission to get out of the water. Then the training kicks in – participants roll in powdered snow to get the water off their clothes before a final sprint to warming tents to change and dry themselves. “You learn how to survive, you learn how to deal with the cold,” Baker said in a video posted on the service’s Twitter. • Man Pulls Gun Outside Oregon School, Police Shoot Him Dead

By Neetu Chandak - Police killed a man who drew a gun while being escorted off the premises of an Oregon middle school Friday. The man was forced out of Cascade Middle School in Eugene, Oregon over a custody dispute, The Associated Press reported Friday. The school was put on lockdown for close to four hours. The shooting occurred outside of the school at 10:27 a.m., according to a Eugene Police Department Facebook post Friday. “As officers were escorting the male from the school, he produced a firearm and a struggle ensued,” the police department wrote. “During the struggle the subject was shot by police and is now deceased.” No students were hurt, The AP reported. Police led small groups of students to a nearby church to meet up with parents in the afternoon. The middle school set up a “care room” with counselors to support students throughout the day. “We will resume school at the regular time on Monday and will have the Care Room set up for any students who need that support,” the school’s website said. “We will communicate about any specific plans or changes to the typical school day on Sunday evening.” Eugene Police Department and Cascade Middle School did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
