John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Report: Navy Ship Designed for Fast Transport Has Problems

Recommended Posts

Sequester? It went on for years, suppliers reduced size of competent designers and those who ultimately bring to life the desired product lost their jobs. BUT ..... what choice did we have? $25,000,000,000,000.07 in debt, primarily to China. Soooooo ... some aspect of our nation had to suffer. Wow. Suffer isn't the right word. We can NEVER pay off our debt to China, we hope they never demand payment (those billions in interest aren't paid to China, folks. We ADD the interest to the debt!) Soooooo ... print paper money that has no value. NOW ... ask the POTUSA & the House & Senate to AGREE on how to handle the debt, only to see it challenged in the SCOTUSA after winding its way through a variety of federal courts, then remanded...... Yeah. That'll fix it. Right on! Farm House! (WAIT......UN voting on the proposed solution.......

I see all of the above-referenced individuals clad in salvations pure armor, singing, "And now the end is near.........we did it ooouuur way!"

    • Report Highlights The Crazy Lengths Hackers Took To Hack US Utilities

By Chris White - Russian hackers went to shocking and elaborate lengths to wriggle their way into the United States’ electrical grid, according to a Wall Street Journal report Friday that detailed a slew of new hacking techniques. Hackers targeted government contractors connected to a public utility company in Oregon to access the country’s electric grid, the report notes. Some of the contractors were unaware that they were victimized due to the exotic tactics’ hackers used to disguise their intentions. The scheme’s success is owed mostly to how it exploited trusted business relationships using impersonation and trickery. Hackers planted malware on sites utility engineers frequently visit and sent phony résumés with tainted attachments. After getting credentials, they then slipped through portals and gained access to computer systems that monitor and control electricity flows. TheWSJ’s report identified government contractors such as Commercial Contractors, in Washington, and Carlson Testing, in Oregon, among other big-name public utilities who were targeted in 2017. One of the cites contractors visited cleaned out malicious malware from its domains in 2016 only to see hackers return and infect the system again. Hackers seized on unsuspecting visitors and other trade websites, hoping to lure engineers and penetrate the companies where they worked. The Russians could potentially take down “anybody in the industry,” researcher Yonathan Klijnsma told WSJ reporters. Mike Vitello of Oregon-based construction company, All-Ways Excavating, told reporters that he doesn’t recall reading websites or clicking on tainted email attachments. The intrusion was part of the Russian campaign, according to the security companies that studied the hack. All-Ways Excavating is a government contractor and bids for jobs with agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which operates government-owned hydroelectric facilities. Attackers used Vitello’s account to send mass emails to customers. One email went to another Oregon-based company called Dan Kauffman Excavating – the subject line read: “Please DocuSign Signed Agreement—Funding Project.” But the memo set off warning signals. “Just received this from your email, I assume you have been hacked.,” Office manager Corinna Sawyer said in an email to Vitello, who maintains he never visited any of the infected sites nor does he remember clicking on any dodgy links. She received an ominous and cryptic response from his account: “I did send it.” Sawyer suspected something was wrong, so she called Vitello, who told her the email was fake. Analysts believe the covert style of attack was the first of its kind. “What Russia has done is prepare the battlefield without pulling the trigger,” Robert Silvers, a former cyber policy expert at Homeland Security, told reporters. WSJ’s report comes amid government warnings in 2018 warning that the U.S. would be unprepared in the event of a power outage. The Department of Homeland Security noted in July of 2018 that Russia’s military intelligence agency had infiltrated the control rooms of power plants across the United States. There is no evidence that the hackers tried to take over the plants, as Russian actors did in Ukraine in 2015 and 2016. • Former Bill Clinton Press Secretary Says The Threat Of Terrorism At The Border Is A ‘Fantasy’ Despite DHS Report To The Contrary

By Nick Givas - Former Clinton White House press secretary Joe Lockhart claimed the threat of terrorism at the U.S. southern border is just a “fantasy” on CNN’s “New Day” Monday. “Just take one step back. If you’re a terrorist, do you want to come through a border that has thousands of border control guards, that has now 15,000 or so troops there?” Lockhart said. “You’re not coming. The — the only recorded terrorist apprehension that I know of in the last 20 years happened at the northern border around the millennium. So it’s — it’s become — we’ve become numb to it, but we saw probably the best example in a while of how they will say anything and it’s all about creating a reality that’s different than the facts. And that’s dangerous because we’re now making — we now have the government shut down based on a fantasy,” he added. The Department of Homeland Security released a report Wednesday entitled: Stopping Terrorist Travel Through Illicit Pathways To The Homeland. In it, they refute Lockhart’s claims and outline specific terror threats that exist at the border. The DHS referred to these potential terrorists as “special interest aliens” or SIAs and said they’re constantly looking for new and creative ways to enter the U.S. undetected. “Offering solutions to close these routes and shut off entry ways into America for SIAs must be a priority moving forward, since some of these migrants have been affiliated with foreign terror groups and organized crime,” the report reads. It also cited a U.S. State Department report claiming terrorists are seeking to infiltrate Latin America to take advantage of their “porous borders, limited law enforcement capabilities, and established smuggling routes.” “These vulnerabilities offered opportunities to local and international terrorist groups and posed challenges to governments in the region,” the State Department report continued. The Center for Immigration Studies also released a report back in late November showing at least 15 confirmed cases where members of terrorist groups were encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border, or right after they had illegally crossed. • Michael Cohen Report Is Based On Third-Hand Information, Reporter Reveals

By Chuck Ross - McClatchy reported on Thursday that foreign intelligence exists placing former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen in Prague during the 2016 campaign, as is alleged in the infamous Steele dossier But the story is coming under scrutiny after Cohen directly denied the report. Other news outlets have been unable to corroborate the bombshell report One of the reporters who worked on the story, Greg Gordon, has shed light on the reporting. In an interview with MSNBC, he acknowledged that he and his sources did not directly see the underlying intelligence cited in the report.  The reporters who broke a potentially bombshell story claiming evidence that Michael Cohen visited Prague during the 2016 presidential campaign did not see for themselves some of the underlying intelligence cited in their report, one of the journalists who wrote the story revealed on Thursday. In an interview on MSNBC, Greg Gordon said that he and his McClatchy colleague, Peter Stone, did not physically see cell tower records and intelligence intercepts that they claim placed Cohen in Prague in Summer 2016. Gordon also suggested that the four anonymous sources he and Stone cite in their article also did not see the intelligence for themselves, meaning that the report is based on third-hand information. “Is there anything that you were able to physically see for yourselves?” MSNBC host Joy Reid asked Gordon. “I wish we had. We held out for a while for that, and it came a type when we thought we had a critical mass. It is a competitive business,” Gordon said. “Some of the sources have government sources, and some of the sources are people who have told us that they have trusted intelligence-type sources that they get information from. We don’t know the specifics, but we have used these sources on many subjects, and they have been very accurate,” Gordon added. When asked if he has seen the intercepts, Gordon responded, “No.” He said that his sources were told that the intercepts exist. Earlier on Thursday, Gordon and Stone reported that electronic records show that Cohen’s cell phone pinged a tower in Prague in the summer of 2016, around the same time the Steele dossier claims that Cohen was in the European city to meet with a group of Kremlin insiders. Gordon and Stone also reported that Eastern European intelligence agency picked up chatter from a Russian government official who claimed that Cohen was in Prague. The information has been provided to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, McClatchy reported. If true, the McClatchy report would significantly bolster the dossier, which alleges a massive conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russian government to influence the 2016 election. According to Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier, Cohen visited Prague to meet with Kremlin officials to arrange payments to Russian hackers. Cohen has denied the dossier’s claims ever since BuzzFeed published the document on Jan. 10, 2017. He continued publicly denying the report up until late June, around the time that the former Trump fixer began cooperating with federal prosecutors in the various cases against him. Since then, Cohen’s attorney-turned-adviser, Lanny Davis, has publicly disputed the dossier on Cohen’s behalf. The McClatchy story has come under intense scrutiny, largely because Cohen broke his silence to deny the report on Twitter. No other news outlets have been able to confirm the report, as well as a similar story published by the same reporters back on April 13. In that initial story, Gordon and Stone reported that Mueller had received information that placed Cohen in Prague. It is not clear whether that information is the same intelligence identified in Thursday’s report. “I hear #Prague #CzechRepublic is beautiful in the summertime. I wouldn’t know as I have never been. #Mueller knows everything!” Cohen wrote on Twitter after the McClatchy report appeared. Gordon avoided responding directly to Cohen’s denial when asked about it on MSNBC. “Michael Cohen as we all know has been convicted of lying about his dealings with the Trump hotel in Russia. He’s been convicted of being deceitful in a number of ways, so his credibility is not high,” Gordon said. Gordon was forced to acknowledge that Cohen could have merely stayed silent about the report if it was accurate. “All I can say to that is we’ll have to see how this sorts out,” Gordon replied. While Gordon now questions Cohen’s credibility, the same cannot be said for Mueller, who revealed in a court filing on Dec. 7 that Cohen has gone to “significant lengths” to assist the special counsel’s investigation, including by meeting with prosecutors seven times. Cohen pleaded guilty in the special counsel’s investigation on Nov. 29 to lying to Congress about the extent of his efforts to build a Trump Tower Moscow. Cohen was not charged with lying about the dossier allegations, which he denied during his congressional testimony. The absence of dossier-related charges has been interpreted by many as evidence that Mueller believes that Cohen is telling the truth when he denies the dossier’s claims.
