John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

    • Does America have any right to ambush North Korea?

America is an economic giant and a millitary super power and what north korea is trying to do is unâcceptable. all in all, i feel that America should keep off and let United Nations handle that. It feels fair when an unbiased party deals with the issue.

    • Otto Warmbier’s Family Wants $1 Billion From North Korea Over Son’s Death

By Neetu Chandak - The family of Otto Warmbier wants $1 billion in damages from North Korea over their son’s death, according to a testimony Wednesday. Warmbier was a University of Virginia student who allegedly stole a propaganda poster while touring the country in January 2016. The student was convicted and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor by the state for the alleged crime in March 2016. He was released with the help of U.S. President Donald Trump in June 2017, but Otto died a week after his return in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Ohio. Those seeking repayment for the damages from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea include parents Fred and Cindy Warmbier along with Otto Warmbier’s estate, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. “We’re here because we don’t fear North Korea anymore,” Fred Warmbier said, according to WaPo. The testimony took place in front of Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, WaPo reported. The Warmbiers said they wanted the judge to hold North Korea accountable for holding hostage, torturing and killing Otto Warmbier. “We are not going to be the victims,” Cindy Warmbier said, according to The Hill. “I want them [North Korea] to feel victimized.” The Warmbiers are also asking for $46 million to make up for the family’s suffering, The Hill reported. Hamilton County, Ohio, coroner Lakshmi Sammarco said Otto Warmbier died from brain damage due to lack of oxygen and blood, NPR reported. North Korea has repeatedly denied torturing Otto Warmbier, claiming the student developed a rare form of food poisoning called botulism and went into a coma after ingesting a sleeping pill. Medical officials, however, did not find any proof to support the country’s claim. Medical personnel also did not find signs of physical abuse like abnormal scars or bone fractures. Experts who testified Wednesday said many methods of torture in North Korea do not leave a trace, WaPo reported. They added that Otto Warmbier could have been abused for political purposes. Otto Warmbier’s parents claimed their son returned to the U.S. blind and deaf. Fred Warmbier added that his son’s teeth looked like they were rearranged with pliers. Fred and Cindy Warmbier first filed the lawsuit against North Korea on April 26. • North Korea Issues Blunt Statement On Denuclearization

By Hanna Bogorowski - North Korea issued a straightforward statement Thursday saying Pyongyang won’t denuclearize until the United States removes its nuclear threat from the region first. “The proper definition of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is completely eliminating the American nuclear threat to North Korea before eliminating our nuclear capability,” commentary published by state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) declared. The United States and North Korea have been entrenched in negotiations since North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed at their June 12 summit to “work toward complete denuclearization,” but in the roughly six months since, few concrete developments have been made. In Thursday remarks, which are attributed to an individual named Jong Hyon, North Korea is insisting the U.S. remove “all elements of nuclear threats from the areas of both the north and the south of Korea and also from surrounding areas from where the Korean peninsula is targeted.” The statement’s distinction of not only removing the nuclear threat from North and South Korea but the surrounding regions mirrors the reverse debate in the U.S. on whether the strategy is focused on “denuclearization of North Korea” or “denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.” “I don’t want to split words, and I think our policy has been clear,” State Department deputy spokesman Robert Palladino told reporters Tuesday. North Korea has asked for several concessions in the past before committing to complete denuclearization, including demanding the U.S. lift sanctions on the country, a request to officially end the Korean War and asking for a second meeting with Trump. The State Department cancelled a much anticipated meeting between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korean official Kim Yong Chol in November with little explanation, saying the meeting “will now take place at a later date.” Pompeo insisted Thursday that the U.S. is “undoubtedly” in a better place with the communist dictatorship than it was a year ago. “No more missiles being tested, no more nuclear testing. We’re in a better place today,” Pompeo said to Kansas radio station KNSS. Pyongyang’s heightened request comes just a day after the U.S. was in talks about easing a travel ban and letting American aid workers deliver humanitarian relief to North Korea, The Wall Street Journal reported. This potential concession came as Trump’s special envoy to North Korea, Stephen Biegun, landed in Seoul for meetings with South Korean officials regarding North Korea’s denuclearization. • US Government Fears For Maria Butina’s Safety, Prosecutors Accidentally Reveal

By Chuck Ross - Federal prosecutors accidentally disclosed on Friday that they fear for the safety of Maria Butina, the alleged Russian agent who is cooperating with the U.S. government. Prosecutors disclosed their concerns in a court filing that was intended to be filed under seal, out of public view. The document appeared briefly on the federal court system’s documents database and was spotted by reporters. “Although the fact of defendant Butina’s cooperation is now public, the details of her transportation to and from the jail are not,” prosecutors told District Judge Tanya Chutkan. “Once disclosed, such information could be used by individuals or entities who might seek to harm or intimidate the defendant to prevent her from continuing to cooperate with law enforcement.” The filing does not specify what threats Butina may face. But the 30-year-old Butina pleaded guilty in federal court on Thursday to conspiracy involving Alexander Torshin, the deputy governor of Russia’s central bank. She entered a cooperation agreement with prosecutors. Beginning in March 2015, Butina and a person believed to be her boyfriend, a GOP operative named Paul Erickson, “agreed and conspired” with Torshin and another unnamed person “to act in the United States under the direction of Russian Official without prior notification to the Attorney General.” Butina admitted that she “sought to establish unofficial lines of communication with Americans having power and influence over U.S. politics.” She and Torshin established links to the National Rifle Association, meeting on several occasions with officials from the gun rights group. Butina established her own pro-gun group, The Right to Bear Arms, which sought to establish gun rights in Russia. Erickson is reportedly a target in the federal investigation, which is being conducted separately from the special counsel’s probe of possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government. According to Friday’s filing, prosecutors plan to transport Butina to and from the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, D.C. and jail in Alexandria, Va. Prosecutors also said that Butina may be transported to a grand jury.
