John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Nancy Pelosi’s Father Once Dedicated a Statue to Robert E. Lee

Recommended Posts

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi woke up from her 30-year slumber last week and suddenly decided to be outraged by the Confederate statues standing in the halls of Congress. She finds them “reprehensible” and is demanding House Speaker Paul Ryan have them removed. Her family tree history makes her outrage a bit awkward. Red Alert […]

DALLAS, TX—Upon reading through the biblical description of the New Jerusalem Monday morning, Pastor Robert Jeffress was reportedly disappointed to discover that there was nothing indicating the heavenly city's wall would include security measures to keep Democrats from entering. • Our Father’s Hand

It’s commonly known that nobody can avoid the problems of this life, but what is uncommon is knowing that those who are reborn can avoid allowing problems to escalate into “trouble” (Jhn 14:1, 27). If our walk is in obedience to His command here, it will manifest we are exercising our faith in that He “works everything together for good to them who love God” (Rom 8:28). Thus, there’s nothing valid within the life of the believer that could be considered trouble since all is used for our instruction in “being conformed to the image of His Son” (Rom 8:29; 2Cor 3:18); and there’s no occurring situation that can detract from maintaining joy in the Lord Jesus, unless we are often absent-minded in our gratitude as to where we always stand in Him concerning “eternal salvation” (Heb 5:9) and the present provisions therein (2Pet 1:3).   Those who “have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Heb 5:14) can always know that regardless of what difficulty or discouragement God allows us to encounter, especially those self-incurred, are solely for our learning to believe that in His foreknowledge He has preplanned them to benefit our good, which are always related to “growing up into Him in all things” (Eph 4:15). To me, it’s merely a matter of being still and patiently waiting it out!   I believe the “peace” Christ has “left” to us (Jhn 14:27) well enables one to “endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2Tim 2:3); and I think the above mentioned instructions are most consistently accomplished when exercising our title to continue “casting all your care upon Him” (1Pet 5:7), because you know God will always work it out. - NC

    • Trump Again Places Blame For Shutdown At The Feet Of ‘Nancy And Cryin’ Chuck’

By Evie Fordham - President Donald Trump placed the blame for the partial government shutdown at the feet of “Nancy and Cryin’ Chuck” in a tweet Monday. “Nancy and Cryin’ Chuck can end the Shutdown in 15 minutes. At this point, it has become their, and the Democrats, fault!” he wrote. The government shutdown hit day 24 Monday, setting a U.S. record. It was triggered after a short-term continuing resolution to fund the government expired Dec. 21. At the center of the funding battle is approximately $5 billion in funding for the border wall the president wants to build. Trump could try to use emergency powers to bring the shutdown to a close, but such an action is likely to be challenged in court. The president said he is open to using emergency powers but has also said the shutdown could last “months or even years.” Instead, Trump has been tweeting about how Democrats could “can easily fix” the shutdown, and he and his proxies have had several sit-downs with Democratic congressional leaders to no avail. The president had previously said he was “proud to shut down the government for border security” in a meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Dec. 11. Trump seemed to tease the option of a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) compromise in a tweet Sunday. “Democrats are saying that DACA is not worth it and don’t want to include in talks,” Trump wrote on Twitter Sunday. “Many Hispanics will be coming over to the Republican side, watch!” DACA is an Obama administration-era program that allows people brought into the U.S. illegally when they were children. It doesn’t grant them lawful status, but it does remove the immediate threat of deportation for DACA recipients, according to USImmigration.org. Schumer said Republicans need to “abandon” border wall funding if they want to reopen the government since the start of the shutdown. But DACA advocates including Dreamer Hilario Yanez, who was interviewed on Fox News Wednesday night, said he supports a border wall and sees “opportunities for compromise.” Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience. • Chuck and Nancy botched the response to Trump’s address – and social media let them know it

By R. Mitchell - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer were given national air time equal to respond to President Trump’s address to the nation on border security – and… they blew it. Chuck and Nancy made an interesting choice for decor for their appearance – a single podium for the two Democrats to share – sorta. Fans of the two politicians chimed in on just how they presented themselves. Several who watched found the pair’s unsettlingly like getting “a talk” from their parents. When all else fails, bring out the tv/movie memes: Chuck and Nancy botched the response to Trump’s address – and social media let them know it is original content from Conservative Daily News - Where Americans go for news, current events and commentary they can trust - Conservative News Website for U.S. News, Political Cartoons and more. • Nancy Pelosi And House Dems Introduce Bill That Would Immediately Restore Voting Rights For Convicted Felons Nationwide

By Andrew Kerr - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats unveiled a bill Friday that would immediately restore voting rights to convicted felons nationwide. Convicted felons who have completed their prison sentences would have their voting rights restored, but those incarcerated at the time of an election would still be barred from voting. The bill would also mandate automatic voter registration nationwide. House Democrats unveiled details of a sweeping federal elections reform package Friday that, if enacted, would immediately restore voting rights to convicted felons who have completed their prison sentences nationwide. The bill, titled the “For the People Act,” would also mandate automatic voter registration nationwide for eligible voters that provide information to state government agencies such as the DMV. The act “makes automatic voter registration a mandate nationwide — not just in certain states or in certain counties — but nationwide,” Rep. John Lewis of Georgia said at a press conference announcing the bill Friday. “We must get there, and we will get there, as Democrats.” “It restores voting rights to felons who paid their debt to society,” Lewis added. The bill, also known as House Resolution 1, or H.R. 1, includes dozens of measures from House Democrats including election security, campaign finance and anti-corruption reforms. The package was introduced Thursday by Democratic Rep. John Sarbanes of Maryland and co-sponsored by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. It also includes a measure that would require sitting presidents and vice presidents, in addition to presidential and vice presidential candidates, to release 10 years of personal tax returns. The bill will “strengthen our democracy and return political power to the people by making it easier, not harder, to vote, ending the dominance of big money in our politics and ensuring that public officials actually serve the public,” Sarbanes said Thursday. The bill holds that “the right of an individual who is a citizen of the United States to vote in any election for Federal office shall not be denied or abridged because that individual has been convicted of a criminal offense.” Convicted felons who have served their sentence or are sentenced to serve “only a term of probation” would have their voting rights restored, but those incarcerated at the time of an election would be barred from voting. Convicted felons would be able to vote “in any election for Federal office held after the date of the enactment of this Act,” were it to be signed into law. The proposal was welcomed with open arms by the left-leaning Brennan Center for Justice, a law policy institute that focuses on voting rights and campaign finance reform. “The Brennan Center for Justice fully supports voting rights restoration for formerly incarcerated people who have past felony convictions,” Brennan Center spokesperson Alexandra Ringe told The Daily Caller News Foundation. The proposal comes less than two months after Florida voters elected to restore voting rights to nearly 1.5 million convicted felons. Pelosi committed to pushing the entire reform package through the House during a press conference Friday. “We are introducing H.R. 1 to … clean up corruption and restore integrity to government,” she said. “We put power back into the hands of the people.” “[W]e will have the complete H.R. 1 passed by the House of Representatives with the knowledge, transparency that the American people will know that this is an option that the House has given the Senate of the United States and the President of the United States to take action in support of the American people,” Pelosi said.
