John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

    • Being born of water is being born.

Often times people will point to John 3:3 as a proff verse, saying that baptism is necessary for salvation. But a quick study of the verse in context shows that it has nothing to do with water baptism.   First clue us that birth is the subject, birth involves water or embryonic fluid. The first and second birth are placed a certain say in the wording.   (Verse 5)Unless one is born of water - (verse 6)that which is born of flesh. (Verse 5) and the Spirit - (verse 6) and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.   Last point, if being born of water means baptism then no one knows when they will be baptised, it just sneaks up on you because in verse 8 we see that being born of the Spirit comes like the wind.   1Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”4Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”5Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.c7Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘Youd must be born again.’ 8The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”   Any additional input?

    • China Warns Taiwan: Unification By Force Is On The Table

By Anders Hagstrom - Chinese President Xi Jinping called for his country’s reunification with Taiwan Wednesday, saying China would pursue peaceful means for now but would not rule out the use of force, The New York Times reported. Taiwan, which refers to itself as the Republic of China, is the remnant of Western-backed forces that opposed the communist revolution in China. Since losing its civil war, Taiwan has occupied a dubious place internationally, with mainland China encouraging other countries not to recognize it. Xi insisted that any future talks must revolve around Taiwan, a democracy, coming under communist authority, refusing to take violence off the table should Taiwan insist on its independence, according to NYT. “Different systems are not an obstacle to unification, and even less are they an excuse for separatism. The private property, religious beliefs and legitimate rights and interests of Taiwanese compatriots will be fully assured,” Xi said in a statement. “We make no promise to abandon the use of force, and retain the option of taking all necessary measures.” The U.S. adopted the One China policy in 1979, officially recognizing the communist People’s Republic of China as the legitimate authority of both Taiwan and mainland China. The U.S. nevertheless maintains its shipments of advanced weapons technology to the island. Wednesday’s statement comes amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and China. While U.S. President Donald Trump and Xi had appeared to come to a trade agreement in late 2018, the U.S. then called for the arrest an extradition of a Chinese tech executive, infuriating the Chinese government. Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen said she would welcome talks so long as her government was allowed to represent itself and pursue self-rule. Xi, however, sees reunification under communist rule as inevitable. “The country is growing strong, the nation is rejuvenating and unification between the two sides of the strait is the great trend of history,” Xi said. • Woman Allegedly Tries To Poison Husband With Antifreeze, Gets Caught By 4-Year-Old Son

By Grace Carr - A New York woman allegedly attempted to poison her estranged husband by spiking his drinks with antifreeze after their son told a third party about the attempt. Long Island resident Renee Burke was charged Thursday with attempted murder, assault, burglary and endangering the welfare of a child, ABC6 reported Saturday. A grand jury indicted Burke, 40, for her alleged crimes, according to ABC. Burke attempted to poison her husband, Matthew Burke, by putting antifreeze in his beverages on a number of occasions, according to prosecutors. Antifreeze is an ethylene glycol liquid-based substance that can be added to water to lower freezing temperature. It is often used to regulate engine temperatures in vehicles. Ingesting the substance can cause life-threatening complications, according to Healthline, a website that covers a full spectrum of medicine and offers expert medical advice. Renee Burke first attempted to poison her husband on Sept. 6, 2018, according to prosecutors, ABC reported. After Matthew Burke noticed his wine contained a chemical taste, their 4-year-old son disclosed to his babysitter that his mom “had put something in daddy’s drink,” prosecutors allege, according to ABC. The Burkes have a 4-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter. Matthew Burke has full custody of the children, according to ABC. Renee Burke has temporary visitation rights. Following the first alleged poisoning attempt, doctors examined Matthew Burke and the children for injury and found none, ABC reported. Matthew Burke noticed the same chemical taste in a soda on another occasion, and installed a video camera in his house in order to discover if Renee Burke was in fact seeking to tamper with his beverages. At a later date, footage shows Renee Burke pouring pink liquid from two baby bottles into Matthew Burke’s wine, according to ABC. Renee Burke tried to poison her husband numerous times between Sept. 1, and Sept. 12, 2018, prosecutors allege. Renee Burke claims the video footage shows her pouring fruit juice into her husband’s wine, ABC reported. “This is an extremely troubling case,” Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini said, according to ABC. “It’s not only disturbing that the defendant attempted to murder her estranged husband, but that she did so in the presence of children.” Investigators found antifreeze at Renee Burke’s residence. Included in searches googled on her phone, according to prosecutors, was the phrase, “What liquids for cars can kill a human?” Renee Burke has pleaded not guilty. She is being held on $400,000 bond, according to ABC. She faces up to 25 years in prison if she is found guilty in court. • Five elements of water baptism in the bible

1 The baptist should baptize the believer in the name of Jesus but not in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The name of Father, Son and the Holy Spirit is Jesus. Jesus is the only God dwelling in the world and appearing to human in flesh. Jesus has flesh body and die in cross for our sin. The sinless lamb became a sacrifice on Passover for saving human’s life. He burdens our sin and takes over the punishment of death. Then we may gain the salvation by the faith in Jesus. Peter said in Acts 2:38 “ Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 10:48 “ So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.”   2 The water baptism can only be conducted in living water like river, sea or lake. Water baptism conducted in pool is sin. “ My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own pools, broken pools that cannot hold water.” Jeremiah 2:13.  Jesus set an example for us who was baptized by John Baptist in Jordan river. John Baptist also baptized others in River called Aenon. Baptism in living water also indicates Jesus is living water of our life. “On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin the impurity.” Zechariah 13:1.   3 The water baptism in bile is full immersion. The Greek word from which we get the word baptism is “baptizo”, which literally means “to immerse”.  All water baptisms in scripture were by full immersion.  Jesus was water baptized by being fully immersed in the water and rising out of it. (Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10, Acts 8:38-39). Full immersion means we die together with Jesus.  “ Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death” Roman 6:3. Submersion in the water symbolizes the death and burial while raising out of the water is a picture how Jesus raised us and gave us a fresh start in life. Sprinkling or any other ways of baptism were not matching the scriptures of bible.   4 When receiving water baptism, the believer should bow his head. Water baptism means die with Jesus. In Roman 6:4-5” We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death.  For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.” What is the shape of Jesus when he die in cross? John 19:30 “When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “ It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” It is also a sinner’s altitude to bow the head.   5 The baptist must be baptized with the Holy Spirit before baptizing others. John 20:22-23 “ And with that he breather on them and said, receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” It is Holy Spirit forgiving sin. People without being baptized with the Holy Spirit cannot forgive sins. Only the ones who have been baptized with the Holy Spirit can baptize others with the function of washing up sin. Water baptism has water, Jesus blood and Holy Spirit. 1 John 5:6-8 “ This is the one who came by water and blood- Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.”
