John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer were given national air time equal to respond to President Trump’s address to the nation on border security – and… they blew it.

Chuck and Nancy made an interesting choice for decor for their appearance – a single podium for the two Democrats to share – sorta.

Schumer: "Hey Nancy, I got us six flags for our speech!"
Pelosi: “Great! And how many podiums?"
Schumer: "…" pic.twitter.com/GMCT8ojqrh

Fans of the two politicians chimed in on just how they presented themselves.

Yikes. I like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi but they gotta work on the whole “not looking like villains from the next bond movie” thing next time. pic.twitter.com/Uen5rgZLH9

Several who watched found the pair’s unsettlingly like getting “a talk” from their parents.

    • Trump Again Places Blame For Shutdown At The Feet Of ‘Nancy And Cryin’ Chuck’

By Evie Fordham - President Donald Trump placed the blame for the partial government shutdown at the feet of “Nancy and Cryin’ Chuck” in a tweet Monday. “Nancy and Cryin’ Chuck can end the Shutdown in 15 minutes. At this point, it has become their, and the Democrats, fault!” he wrote. The government shutdown hit day 24 Monday, setting a U.S. record. It was triggered after a short-term continuing resolution to fund the government expired Dec. 21. At the center of the funding battle is approximately $5 billion in funding for the border wall the president wants to build. Trump could try to use emergency powers to bring the shutdown to a close, but such an action is likely to be challenged in court. The president said he is open to using emergency powers but has also said the shutdown could last “months or even years.” Instead, Trump has been tweeting about how Democrats could “can easily fix” the shutdown, and he and his proxies have had several sit-downs with Democratic congressional leaders to no avail. The president had previously said he was “proud to shut down the government for border security” in a meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Dec. 11. Trump seemed to tease the option of a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) compromise in a tweet Sunday. “Democrats are saying that DACA is not worth it and don’t want to include in talks,” Trump wrote on Twitter Sunday. “Many Hispanics will be coming over to the Republican side, watch!” DACA is an Obama administration-era program that allows people brought into the U.S. illegally when they were children. It doesn’t grant them lawful status, but it does remove the immediate threat of deportation for DACA recipients, according to USImmigration.org. Schumer said Republicans need to “abandon” border wall funding if they want to reopen the government since the start of the shutdown. But DACA advocates including Dreamer Hilario Yanez, who was interviewed on Fox News Wednesday night, said he supports a border wall and sees “opportunities for compromise.” Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience. • DeSantis Suspends Sheriff After Poor Response To Parkland Shooting

By Neetu Chandak - Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis officially suspended Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel on Friday after his poor response to the Parkland high school shooting Feb. 14, 2018. “Effective immediately, I am officially suspending Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel for his repeated failures, incompetence and neglect of duty,” DeSantis tweeted Friday. Israel reportedly told his officers he was suspended, but DeSantis had not announced any such decision, The Daily Caller previously reported. Calls to suspend the sheriff were immediate after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission released a report detailing the failures that happened the day of the shooting. Revelations included police not going after suspected gunman Nikolas Cruz in a timely manner and chaotic radio communication, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. Seventeen people died on the day of the massacre. Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
