John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Third Temple: Rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem

Recommended Posts

Rabbi Richman, director of the International Department of The Temple Institute, says he is committed to rebuilding Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

Israeli Brigade Commander Col. Motta Gur captured the Temple Mount in 1967. After the capture, he announced: “The Temple Mount is in our hands! The Temple Mount is in our hands!”

Retaking the temple was important to the Jewish world because the site was where King Solomon built the first Jewish temple. When that temple was destroyed, a second temple was built, only to later fall in 70 AD to the Romans.

Recapturing the site meant the Jews could have their long-awaited third temple.

"It would be hard, I think, not to see what's happened in the past 50 years as a tremendous – not just fulfillment of prophecy – but a tremendous jump start, a tremendous fast forward," Richman said. "It's more than prophetic. It's like a kiss from Heaven. It's like a divine kiss. It's like an intimate brush with the reality of God's compassion and love. He keeps His promises."

The Institute is already working on blueprints for the new temple.

"Today there's a lobby in the Knesset (Israel’s parliament) of how many members of Knesset that are constantly speaking about Jewish rights to pray on the Temple Mount," Richman said. "There are members of Knesset that actually talk about the rebuilding the Holy Temple.  Do you realize that 20 years ago these people wouldn't have been given a moment on prime time television to say these things. They would have been laughed out.”

How will this temple be a "Holy Temple" ?

 It won't be.

The blood of Christ has already been shed for the forgiveness of sins.

Any other blood sacrifice is unable to remit any sin. In fact, to even try to do so is an assault on the blood of Christ for they count it as an unholy thing (Hebrews 10:29, KJV) by resorting to other sacrifices.

Many Christians believe the future temple will have a "holy place" that will be  decimated. My question is can that be when the temple will not be holy?

Dear God,

Please do not allow these knees to buckle nor this tongue confess the man that centers himself to be worshiped in such temple.

Amen.

Hi to all

Can I ask, What are the scriptures that cause you to believe there will be another Temple of God built on earth?

I don't think it is so much the Scriptures which "cause" but idolatry which causes one to read into the Scriptures.

I am sorry, I don't understand

In your prayer, which was a good one, you speak of a man and a temple

Do you believe a third temple will be built and a man will claim to be God in it?

I suppose that is my real question. Why do people believe that?

If a third temple is built, I don't believe it will be done with Gods approval.

God does not dwell in houses made by human hands Acts 7 :48

So then, that temple can't be defiled, we are his temple.

Its the reason I asked for scripture,  I know many people still believe that another abomination that causes desolation is coming, but how is that possible?

Thank you, I found a better thread to ask these questions

Not only does God ordain this to happen but God causes the delusion to come over the reprobate.

3rd, 4th, 5th, temples and onward and onward. My prayer had in mind Reformers which believed the two horns of the Anti-Christ were the Papist which place the Pope in the center of an earthly temple and Muhammad. Matthew 24:24 states false Christs and Thessalonians the Man of Lawlessness in which Satan will be worshiped instead of God. Matt 24:24 says if possible, the Elect would be deceived or probably carried away by the delusion which God causes in 2 Thessalonians 2:11.

I don't believe idolatry is limited to only the Catholics and Islamist but why not Jewish or any other peoples?

Whenever I see an earthly temple being erected I am reminded of these things which perpetuate through time. History repeats, we haven't seen the end of temples being constructed in worship of false gods (OP).

    • The shape of new Jerusalem

I heard a somewhat liberal preacher say the shape of the new Jerusalem in Revelation 21:16 will be pyramid shaped. He tried to link it to the Israelites getting this shape from God and when they were slaves in Egypt they designed the pyramids. I didn’t believe much of what he said but it did get me to think. New Jerusalem could be a sphere if you consider the earth is sometimes depicted as having 4 corners, it could also be X or cross shaped. In fact there could be a number of different shapes depending on how “foursquare” is interpreted and how it’s measured. Just thought I’d share this as I had only thought of it as a box.

    • Temple sacrifices during the tribulation

There’s a common belief that the temple and sacrifices will resume in Jerusalem. This happens at or close to the 7 year peace treaty. Half way through at 3 1/2 years the abomination of desolation occurs and the Jews flee into the wilderness where a place is prepared for them for a time, times, and half a time. These Jews are viewed as saved people.    The major issue with this belief is that the animal sacrifices in the past were pointing to Christ being the perfect and complete sacrifice. Christ only dies once for our sins. All people past, present, and future that are saved are done so by this one act of Christ paying for their sins, no matter if they fully understood it or not. During the tribulation people who make animal sacrifices to atone for their sins are essentially denying that Christ has already done this. These people therefore can’t be saved, at least at this point, because they are denying Christ. If people do flee at the 3 1/2 year time period and aren’t killed, that fact doesn’t mean they’re saved either.    I think many people will try to assimilate into becoming Jews and deny Christ in the process during the tribulation.    Does anyone find a reason why animal sacrifices would be beneficial, other than to deceive, during the tribulation? Or have any other thoughts on this.
