John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

New to the group; My Testimony

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm Dave L, new to the group. When I was 20, the Lord converted me over a period of 3 days. I began telling people that I didn't know what was going on but I think Christ is real and he is dealing with me.

The joy of the Holy Spirit and God's love had become real and excited me. And I didn’t want it to stop but feared that it might. On the evening of the 3rd day my happiness turned into remorse. God convicted me of sins I didn't even know existed. I began praying, sobbing and asking his forgiveness.

I also asked Jesus into my heart. I heard you are supposed to do this, probably as a child in Sunday school. I fell asleep exhausted in tears only to awake the next day absolutely convinced Christ had saved me.

I had never been so excited about anything. I began telling friends and others. I saw a whole string of conversions in and around people I knew. They believed me and wanted in on it too. None of us were churched, so we began experimenting with going to different churches. We and our girls rattled a few churches with our enthusiasm.

Not wanting to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers, I gave up my career as a musician and began living the sermon on the mount (Matthew 6:24-34). Seeking first the kingdom of God as a career. To make a long story short, I began homeless, washing dishes part time as unto the Lord and retired early out of my own pocket, never missing a day's work through recessions and job closings. The Lord is faithful.

Thank you for sharing a little about yourself Dave. I think it is important to build rapport with others before engaging in what is sometimes heated debate. Please consider this an invitation to participate in a thread about our members:

Hope you enjoy the fellowship here!

    • Bruce Ohr Testimony Undercuts Adam Schiff’s Defense Of FBI |

By Chuck Ross - Justice Department official Bruce Ohr’s testimony about his meetings with FBI officials regarding dossier author Christopher Steele severely undercuts claims made last year by California Rep. Adam Schiff and his fellow Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee. Ohr told lawmakers on Aug. 28 that he briefed top FBI officials Andrew McCabe and Lisa Page in early August 2016, just days after he met with Steele, a former British spy who was investigating Donald Trump. Ohr testified that he told McCabe and Page about his interactions with Steele, who was working at the time for Fusion GPS, a Democrat-funded opposition research firm. The FBI relied heavily on Steele’s unverified dossier to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Republicans have focused on the Ohrs’ link to the dossier and Steele. In a memo dated Feb. 2, 2018, House Intelligence Republicans, led by then-Chairman Devin Nunes, asserted that the FBI filed to disclose in their FISA applications that Ohr’s wife, Nellie, worked for Fusion GPS. They also noted in the so-called Nunes memo that the FISA applications do not reveal Steele’s anti-Trump bias. Ohr claimed that Steele told him during a meeting on Sept. 23, 2016 that he was “desperate” that Trump not win election. Ohr testified that he had shared details of his contacts with Steele with the FBI prior to the election. In addition to the meeting in early August 2016, Ohr met in late September 2016 or early the next month with Page, FBI counterintelligence deputy chief Peter Strzok, and Justice Department officials Bruce Swartz, Zainab Ahmad, and Andrew Weissmann. Ahmad and Weissmann are currently working on the special counsel’s investigation. The FBI obtained its first FISA against Page weeks after that meeting, on Oct. 21, 2016. Ohr’s testimony conflicts with House Intelligence Democrats’ claim in a memo released on Feb. 24, 2018 that served as a rebuttal to the Nunes memo. That document sought to defend the FBI’s handling of the Steele dossier and its applications for the first FISA warrant. Democrats asserted that Ohr did not meet with the FBI until after the 2016 election and thus had no opportunity to tell the FBI that his wife worked for Fusion GPS. He was also unable to relay that Steele had communicated anti-Trump bias to him. “[Republicans] mischaracterize Bruce Ohr’s role, overstates the significance of his interactions with Steele, and misleads about the timeframe of Ohr’s communication with the FBI,” the so-called Schiff memo reads. Democrats claimed that only in “late November 2016” did Ohr inform the FBI “his prior professional relationship with Steele and information that Steele shared with him.” “This occurred weeks after the election and more than a month after the Court approved the initial FISA application,” reads the memo, which included the emphasis on “after.” “The Majority’s reference to Bruce Ohr is misleading,” Democrats asserted. The revelations in Ohr’s testimony create a bit of a dilemma for Schiff, who is now chairman of the House Intelligence panel. In a Feb. 6, 2018 interview with The Atlantic, Schiff remarked on “how flawed the Nunes memo is.” Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience. • New York Immigration Group Spending $1 Million To Convince Lawmakers To Allow Driver’s Licenses For Illegal Immigrants

By Neetu Chandak - New York’s largest immigration advocacy group is looking to spend $1 million to convince lawmakers in the state to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses as President Donald Trump cracks down on unlawful entry into the U.S. The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) plans to increase its lobbying efforts and invest at minimum $1 million on TV, radio and targeted ads on social media, the New York Daily News reported Monday. This could be NYIC’s biggest campaign. “Our goal is to target every single legislator in New York State,” NYIC Executive Director Steven Choi said, according to the NY Daily News. Choi said allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses would make roads safer by decreasing the number of drivers without licenses. The policy would also help lower auto insurance costs for New Yorkers, though it is unclear how this would occur. Around 265,000 people would benefit from NYIC’s proposed initiative, the NY Daily News reported. “If Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo is looking to protect immigrants from Donald Trump and his administration, as he says, this is the No. 1 policy we can adopt to do that,” Choi said, according to the NY Daily News. Choi has criticized Trump for shutting down the government after Democrats and Republicans failed to compromise on putting $5 billion towards building a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. “Trump’s tantrum over his ridiculous border wall clearly demonstrates that he is morally bankrupt and fiscally irresponsible,” Choi said in a press statement on Jan. 8. Cuomo, a Democrat, has supported progressive policies on immigration including creating a DREAM Act for the state, which would allow children of illegal immigrants to receive state tuition aid for college. He has also pardoned illegal immigrants with criminal histories. Twelve states, including California, Illinois and Maryland, offer driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. NYIC and the New York Department of Motor Vehicles did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment. • Slain For The Word Of God And The Testimony

How were they killed, these that were slain for the word of God and the testimony they held? It matters little how, but it matters greatly why.  Where are they and what are they doing? They are In a better place, waiting under the altar in heaven, a place that speaks of sacrifice.   Revelation 6:9-11
      (9)  And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
      (10)  And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
      (11)  And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Their bodies were killed but their souls did not cease to exist. They are conscious of what has happened, and are capable of voicing their desire to know when the divine consequences for their martyrdom will occur. A season must pass, and more must be slain for the same reason they were, so they should rest.   There are martyrs dressed in white robes, resting in heaven while we testify the truth of the word of God on earth. Some of us are being persecuted and slain for this, but we trust God that His judgment will come and this blood will be avenged.   Thankyou Lord Jesus for the sacrifice of those waiting souls who are resting under the altar in heaven.

    • Details Emerging On Money Behind Influential Environmentalist Group

By Jason Hopkins - A recent profile piece has identified several progressive institutions that are funding the Sunrise Movement, a nascent environmentalist organization that is quickly wielding influence in Washington, D.C. Founded in April 2017, the Sunrise Movement is a newcomer among the many green organizations that have already been established for generations. However, the youth-led climate group has quickly garnered national attention and high-dollar donations from across the country. Between its 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities, the group was able to raise just shy of $1 million during 2018 — and members intend to raise $2.5 million in 2019. Despite growing attention from the media, it’s been difficult to pinpoint exactly who is funding the Sunrise Movement. The group is not legally required to disclose their donors. However, a recent report from Inside Philanthropy, an outlet focused on philanthropic groups and their big donors, shed some light. The Rockefeller Fund, the Wallace Global Fund and the Winslow Foundation are core funders of Sunrise Movement. The three groups have continued to finance a large portion of Sunrise’s operations, with institutional funders making up 55 percent of the group’s 2018 budget. Thirty-five percent of its budget came from individual donors, and the rest came from non-profit partners. Sunrise’s core funders have a long history of bankrolling left-wing activities. The Global Wallace Fund has given nearly $7 million to population control groups since the 1990s. The Rockefeller Family Fund has led a war against ExxonMobil, acknowledging that it has colluded with Democratic attorneys general and funded negative media coverage against the oil company. “What’s been nice about [the past month] is that our impact is incredibly clear and everybody is seeing it, because of the way we’ve been able to put truly ambitious and truly equitable climate action on the map in a way that nobody expected,” William Lawrence, co-founder and development director for Sunrise, stated. “That’s opened some doors that might have been closed before, because people are seeing the value of movement building.” Sunrise, which has been an ardent supporter of the Green New Deal, protested outside Nancy Pelosi’s office late last year, demanding the Speaker-in-waiting take more action on climate change. Their efforts received widespread attention when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — now a New York Democratic congresswoman — joined them in protest. The group enjoyed a surge in donations after the protest. At least some of the salaries for Sunrise Movement staffers, according to Inside Philanthropies, are not based on conventional compensation agreements, but on what members claim they need to support themselves.
