John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

    • FBI Lawyer: ‘Not Typically Appropriate’ For Hillary’s Aides To Attend Her FBI Interview

By Chuck Ross - Lisa Page, a former top attorney at the FBI, told Congress last year she believed it was neither appropriate nor necessary for two of Hillary Clinton’s aides to accompany the former secretary of state in an interview she gave as part of the email investigation. “I would agree with you that it is not typically appropriate or operationally necessary to have fact witnesses attend the interview,” Page told lawmakers during a closed-door interview in July 2018, highlights of which were published by The Epoch Times on Friday. Page was answering questions about the FBI’s handling of the investigation into whether Clinton mishandled classified information by using a private email server while at the State Department. Clinton was interviewed by the FBI as part of the investigation on July 2, 2016, three days before then-FBI Director James Comey announced he would be recommending that Clinton be charged in the case. Clinton was flanked by a team of attorneys in the interview, including Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson. Both lawyers were also witnesses in the FBI’s probe, having been interviewed multiple times separately by FBI agents about their handling of Clinton’s classified emails. As Clinton’s chief of staff at the State Department, Mills was both sender and recipient of numerous classified emails that landed on Clinton’s private email server. Samuelson conducted the review of Clinton’s server that determined which emails Clinton would turn over to the State Department. Page, who served as counsel to former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, testified that Justice Department officials approved Mills and Samuelson’s attendance in the Clinton interview against the wishes of the FBI. Page also detailed an internal debate over how to obtain laptops that Mills and Samuelson used to sort through Clinton’s emails. “There were, I think, months of disagreement with respect to obtaining the Mills and Samuelson laptops,” Page testified, according to The Epoch Times. “We, the FBI, felt very strongly that we had to acquire and attempt to review the content of the Mills and Samuelson laptops because, to the extent the other 30,000 existed anywhere, that is the best place that they may have existed.” Mills and Samuelson were eventually granted immunity as part of a negotiation to obtain the laptops. “Having done this for many, many years, a grand jury subpoena for a lawyer’s laptop would have likely entangled us in litigation over privilege for a very long time,” then-FBI Director James Comey said during a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing on Sept. 27, 2016. “And so by June of this year I wanted that laptop, our investigators wanted that laptop, and the best way to get it was through negotiation,” he added. • Republican Senators Introduce Legislation Which Would ‘Permanently Prevent’ Federal Government From Shutdowns

By Henry Rodgers - A group of Republican Senators introduced legislation which would permanently prevent the federal government from a shutdown Friday afternoon. Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman, Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, Montana Sen. Steve Daines, Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson, Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi, Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, Idaho Sen. Jim Risch, Utah Sen. Mike Lee, and Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski introduced the legislation – the “End Government Shutdowns Act,” which will make it so the federal government can never shutdown. This comes as the government has been partially shutdown for 21 days. Republican members of congress have lobbied members of Congress to reach an agreement on a bill that would fund the government and protect the borders. “It’s disappointing that both sides didn’t resolve this matter weeks ago. Shutdowns inevitably costs taxpayers more money once the government reopens. I hope that both parties come together and reach an agreement that brings a resolution to this issue as quickly as possible,” Portman said in a statement. “Moving forward, we should end government shutdowns for good. This bipartisan legislation will accomplish that goal, providing lawmakers with more time to reach a responsible resolution to budget negotiations, giving federal workers and their families more stability, and ensuring we avoid disruptions that ultimately hurt our economy, taxpayers and working families,” he continued. Daines, who also sponsored the bill, echoed a very similar message, saying government shutdowns do not work and that this legislation will help hold members of congress accountable of keeping the government open. “Shutdowns don’t work. Yet we’re seeing them happen time and time again,” Daines said in a statement. “The End Government Shutdowns Act will hold Congress accountable to funding the government and ensure that hardworking folks aren’t paying the price for the partisan, political games being played in DC.” Daines introduced a bill on the Senate floor Thursday that would withhold the pay of members of Congress during future government shutdowns. The bill, sponsored by Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn, comes hours after Daines announced he sent a letter requesting the secretary of the U.S. Senate withhold his pay during the ongoing partial shutdown of the federal government. Trump was on Capitol Hill Wednesday meeting with Republican senators to discuss the shutdown and border wall funding. After the meeting, he said Republicans were “unified.” The president also warned Democrats he might declare a national emergency if they cannot come to an agreement soon. OLD ABANDONED GAS STATION SOMEWHERE IN TEXAS—In order to offer her sincere congratulations on Elizabeth Warren's decision to run for president in 2020, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton called Warren and asked if she'd meet in person at a remote location out on the plains of Texas "where there are no witnesses or law enforcement officers who could get in the way of my heartfelt words." • Republican Senators Fight To Fund Full Border Wall With New Legislation

By Molly Prince - A group of Republican senators introduced legislation Wednesday to fully fund construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. GOP Sens. Ted Cruz, Mike Rounds, Jim Inhofe and John Kennedy introduced The WALL Act into the Senate, which would fund the border wall in full while also providing specific sources of funds. “I have long called for building a wall as a necessary step in defending our border and stopping the flow of illegal immigration into our country,” Cruz said in a statement. “The overwhelming majority of Texans and Americans want to see the border secured. The WALL Act would fully fund the border wall by closing existing loopholes that provide illegal immigrants with federal benefits and tax credits, without affecting the benefits and tax credits used by Americans.” “President [Donald] Trump has called for a border wall and I agree,” Inhofe added. “As a former builder and developer in south Texas, I know border security is national security and we need to do more to deter the growing numbers of unauthorized immigrants coming across our borders.” In order to finance the wall, the legislation would require refundable tax credit beneficiaries provide work-eligible Social Security numbers in order to receive benefits, welfare applicants prove U.S. citizenship, raise the minimum fine for illegally crossing into the U.S., and enact minimum fines on individuals who overstay their visa. “If you want to receive food stamps and other benefits, then you should prove your citizenship,” Kennedy said. “If you cross the border illegally or overstay your visit to this country, then you should pay a stiff penalty.” “The primary responsibility of the federal government is the defense of our nation, which includes strong border security,” Rounds said. “The WALL Act will provide full funding for construction of a physical barrier along our southern border to protect against illegal immigration and stop those who wish to do us harm, such as terrorists, gang members and drug dealers, from entering the United States from the south.” The legislation comes as Congress passed a two-week funding bill to avoid a government shutdown — it will provide both Republicans and Democrats ample time to debate funding for the border wall. • Enhanced Footage Of Memorial Service Reveals Hillary Clinton Was Actually Reciting Ancient Ritual To Summon Cthulhu From His Slumber

WASHINGTON, D.C.—It may have looked like Hillary Clinton was reciting the Apostles' Creed along with the rest of those gathered at yesterday's memorial service for George H.W. Bush—Trump and his wife excepted. But the truth appears to be far more sinister: enhanced, slowed-down, zoomed-in footage of the event revealed that Clinton was actually reciting an ancient cultic ritual to raise ancient god Cthulhu from his slumber.
