John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Serious question - remarriage and heaven

I remember asking my grandmother the same question when I was a kid. I didn't know the answer and couldn't fathom and heaven or hell at that time. She just told me flat out what she thought in plain and simple terms and 10 year old could understand. You are only allowed to remarry if your other half passes away or if they committed adultery. That's how it was explained to me.
  2. How do you suggest we handle this? Should we go there by force and spread our gospels? Or maybe we just mind our own business and not get involved? We have our own views and we have to freedom of choice. Most countries don't run they way we do. That doesn't mean we press our way of life onto them. How would you feel if ISIS way coming to the US and pressing their views on the American populous? Doesn't sound right now does it. You don't go into another country and press your way of thinking and religion. That's how terrorist are made and they never go away.

    The State of Marriage

I never said I wouldn't get the church or fathers blessing before getting married. The whole point of me speaking up is to let the young adults figure it out without being reminded about it til the point where it turns into harassment like. If and when they decide for themselves to get married, then and only then should they get the church and parents blessing. I don't expect the parents to pay for my wedding. I'd be happy to do it at the beach with no money involved. You assumed I would get married the churches and parents blessing. I never said anything of the sort.

    The State of Marriage

The problem with marriage is the ideology of it all. Everywhere you go it is crammed down our throats as being what everyone is suppose to do when they get to a certain age. Some part in the world parents are telling their kids to hurry up and give me grandchildren. Marriage should be left to the individuals, the last time I checked that's 2 people. they should decide when the time is right and not because their families and societies decrees it because they have been dating for a year. The church and parents shouldn't decide on that. It should be the two involved. The script has been written for everyone. You go to school, you get a good job, you meet a good girl and you get married and have children. Have you heard that one before? Everyone has. Time to let the adults be just that and write their own destiny. They should take the time and figure it out on their own. Only god will tell then when it's the right time. No one speaks for him.

Can you be both rich and Christian...

According to Jesus he might not be able to go to heaven because he has a lot of money. I think people tend to overlook that because they like to have earthly pleasures and can't let go of them. You can call yourself a Christian but does it really make you one if you don't follow the word of Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ open talked down at the rich, so therefore how can you be rich and a true follower of Jesus Christ. Sounds hypocritical.

Can you be both rich and Christian...

Didn't jesus openly talk about the rich having a hard time to enter the kingdom of heaven? The more I look into it seems he never liked the idea of being rich as it clearly meant that you never gave anything away to the poor and needy. If you have so much, then obviously you weren't sharing it. Then I find it odd that these TV evangelist having so much money and flying around in private jets and so forth, but they call themselves Christians. Doesn't anyone out there seem to think that this is hypocritical and is against everything Jesus preached about? I find it disturbing and almost a perversion of everything Christian. Mathew 6:24 - No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Luke 18:25 - For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

    Black Lives Matter

Black lives matter is a hate group. They get up and scream only when there is a white cop involved and a black person is killed. You will never see a black lives matter activist around or making a peep when a black thug gangster shots another black person. Why is that? Black lives only matter when it fits their narrative. It is not about people their fellow man, or black man.

    White Jesus

Geographically speaking. Did you ever see a white man walking in the dessert alone, and still have fair skin? Probably not. He'd be burnt to a crisp if that really happened. He had some color in him for sure.
  9. To everyone here that is voting for Trump, why? What makes him qualified to run our country? He has no previous political experience and if you listen his speeches they have no bearing on foreign polices. By his admission, he sells emotions and runs off of peoples fears and deepest thoughts that you would normally be afraid to speak out. Hillary might not be savior of the best candidate, but she is more qualified then that village idiot. Everyone is talking about emails that the feds have decided not to prosecute on, and the speech she had with investors, but Trump has not released his tax information for review. Why is that? He must be hiding something?

    Let's stop Hillary

I am talking about Trump, or I should say Drump which is his real family name that was changed before he was born. He likes to use the name Trump as a marketing tool that is synonymous with success. When all it really is, is a sham like all of his speech's, which really doesn't amount to anything.
  11. You are not suppose to have multiple wives. That's the bottom line. Using Islam as a comparative is also a bad choice. They treat women like dogs. rape women as young as the age of 9. Do Christians do that? Also, how would you feel if you r wife decided to have a second or third husband. Doesn't sound to cool now does it?

    Let's stop Hillary

He speaks his mind alright. In air interview he said to deal with ISIS they need to take out their family. That is a war crime in any country and by the military law any soldier can exercise his right if they feel that, that order is proven to be unjust. He is narcissist that changes his opinion on everything every single day. His word is meaningless and all that think he will be a great president has fallen for his speech that appeases your emotions, and all things you always wanted to say, but knew was wrong. He has traits that are those of a narcissist and borderline psychopath.

    Does prison solve anything?

Correct. From my understanding in the USA these prisons are actually named correctional facility, but most of the time because of overcrowding, there is no rehabilitation. I actually slept on the floor of a cell that was actually meant to hold 2 people, but threw 3 guys in there. The only rehabilitation there is, is in the form of a community television set. Most of the guys in there have no access to worship of any kind, and grow weary. When they eventually do get out, they come out lost and will get back into unlawfulness to make a living.

When is it acceptable to get a divorce?

How does any of that reflect me and my decision. Did I day I wasn't ready for marriage? Nor did I use caps. If you think I'm going to continue to stay married to an adulteress then your nuts.
  15. joshuap

When is it acceptable to get a divorce?

Is this your personal opinion? It sounds like it. What you just talked about has nothing to do with Christianity and what it says about marriage and adultery.
