John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

  1. I wonder if the difference in the specific semantics of each translation change the Spirit of the living Word? I don't think so. Perhaps the ultimate goal is to represent the perfect Spirit of the Word with the same exact semantics. This when Earth is as it is in Heaven & there is only one language that is spoken. What do you think?
  2. canTo Love God at remembrance of non-personified All mightiness, do we keep fear? Do we own nothing & simply praise the Father, always? Does all humankind sin; our behavior never avoiding the truth in this? Can we persue security by awakening our sensitivity of heart? Do we locate the understanding of our individual soul's expression? Does the soul reside at the center of our heart, or our forehead? These are a few questions I've been contemplating. I'd love to read any comments about them. Please?
