  1. Apostle Paul acknowledges this great salvation when he says this, that we were chosen to be in Him by Him from the beginning, which means before time began, before the world was. So comfort your hearts in the love of God by which He has caused His light to shine out from within you, making you acceptable in the Beloved as His gift to you to be part of the family of God. 2 Thessalonians 2 13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, 14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. 16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.
  2. Jesus in John 5 explains why. It is because His word does not dwell in them, for He has not given them to know God and Christ by making them born of God. John 5::21 "For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will." Luke 10:22 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” and so then v40, they refuse to come to Christ so that they might have life. People in their natural state refuse Christ. The natural state is not of the Father, as they have not been born of God, they are alive only in their flesh. Flesh gives life to flesh and Spirit to spirit. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ And they can not be saved as they do not seek the glory that comes from the one true God, meaning they really don't care or want anything to do with Christ. No one wants anything to do with Christ, unless they are first born of God. 36 “I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life. 41 “I do not accept glory from human beings, 42 but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44 How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? 45 “But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. 46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?
  3. Peter touches on this here. The Love you have for each other, will keep you from being ineffective or unproductive. And you will receive a warm welcome from Jesus Christ. Which is something that is good to look forward to. Not everyone is going to receive the same welcome at the judgement seat of Christ. John also confirms that we are to love the brethren who are begotten of Him as it shows our love for God. 1 Peter 1 22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”[c] And this is the word that was preached to you. 2 Peter 1 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. 10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  4. The chapter on spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12) is intimately tied into the very nature of the body of Christ. If you notice Paul is teaching in that same chapter about how the spiritual gifts, form, grow and edify the body of Christ. Without spiritual gifts there would be no life and no body of Christ on earth, because everything is of God and God works in supernaturally divine ways beyond our ability to comprehend to give life to that which is dead. If you are a member of the body of Christ then you have received spiritual gifts. Do all have 'gifts of healing' NO, or Tongues? NO, but there are so many other gifts and we are taught to eagerly desire the greater gifts. Which the greatest is the gift of loving. 1 Corinthians 12 12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.
  5. They exist only if God gives out to a person those gifts. I think you miss the point here, spiritual gifts don't go away or cease, they are just not in evidence or exercised. God gives to each severally (gifts) as He chooses. Maybe today He just has not chosen to give a certain gift, but He could. It seems some people assume there are no more spiritual gifts, but this is impossible as that invalidates Christs's words about the Holy Spirit. A person always has a choice about spiritual gifts, they can be not used-ignored. Scripture says to quench not the Spirit, which means a person can quench the Spirit, and this is refering to spiritual gifts.
  6. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. All spiritual gifts are meant to build up the body of Christ, They flow out from within the believer. For this to cease means the Holy Spirit is no longer being given to believers. God chooses which gifts to give. Not everyone has some gifts but all have several gifts. Paul says the gifts are a part of being the body of Christ, your place in the body is vitally important to the whole body, without you, the body is not complete. That river of living water is what forms and holds the body together. The gifts don't cease, otherwise there would be no body anymore. Till Christ returns, there will be a body of Christ on earth which is us. So when Paul writes of prophesying ceasing, etc.., this is when Christ returns, At His second coming there will no longer be a need for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit gifts, cause He has come back. Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.
  7. Convoluted explanations of how the gifts ceased? The Holy Spirit did not cease to gift His people with spiritual gifts. Of His kingdom there will be no end. There is only Christ and His words, there is not timeout. John 7 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[c] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. 40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “He is the Messiah.”
  8. The old wall is so easy to climb over. Even a pregnant did this recently and gave birth here. You would think people tasked with designing a border wall would know better?
  9. Ok, watched vid, Deborah was a problem as the pastor says. Deborah sat outside the gates under "the palm tree of Deborah", which is against the OT commands of the law as to where the judge was to sit. And they were NOT to have a tree! So it seems she may have been under influence of the pagan culture. Judges 4:5 And she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim. And the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. Deuteronomy 16:18 “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the Lord your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment. 19 You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and [e]twists the words of the righteous. 20 You shall follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord your God is giving you. 21 “You shall not plant for yourself any tree, as a ]wooden image, near the altar which you build for yourself to the Lord your God. 22 You shall not set up a sacred pillar, which the Lord your God hates.
  10. In the world you will have tribulation, not peace. Jesus brings a sword of division. Jesus said of the blind leading the blind both will fall into the pit, (of hell). Much of culture is of the world, but I admit I would rather live in the USA vs almost any other country while I have to live in my flesh. I just went to Busch Gardens Christmas in Williamsburg and enjoyed many of the Christmas culture, shows and the lights. Sitting next to me a women asked her friend what the show was about, it was Gloria, about the birth of Christ and she had no clue what she was seeing, while she drank from a Bush garden aluminum beer bottle, lol.
  11. If God were your Father, then you would love Christ. Hence, if God is not your Father, then your father is the devil, and you will not love Christ. If you do not HEAR Christ, then you are not OF GOD, meaning your nature is not born again. This really should point out that you must be born again to enter the kingdom of God, if your not born of God, then you will not hear God's words and you will never believe in Christ and be saved. 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
  12. When God makes us born again we are as newborn babes. Babies have a parent that cares for them and teaches them about life, in God's case eternal life, and since God is the very best good teacher, and the babe is part of His family, then by their new natre they trust or entrust themself to their Heavenly Father. Jesus in John 6 says EVERYONE who has heard from the Father and learned from the Father comes to Me. 43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. IF all have heard from God the all would come to Christ, But Jesus is not saying ALL are taught by God. God only teaches those who are a part of His own family those who are OF GOD, that is those who He has determined to redeem from their sins. 35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
  13. The power of God has saved you, if you are saved. Only believers are saved, so your faith is a gift of God, lest anyone boast in their flesh that they chose Christ for themself. 2 Timothy 1:8-10 New King James Version (NKJV) 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, Every good and perfect gift comes down from above from the Father of lights, and that include the faith given to you to believe in the SON. Romans 12 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith
  14. Regeneration comes before your faith, indeed it is the cause of why you believe. 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 'see' means pay attention to, perceive, want anything to do with, the kingdom of God. Unless you are born again first you will have no serious interest in knowing Christ as God come in the flesh to save you. The NT is chock full of our being elected, which means chosen of God for salvation. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our [h]epistle.
  15. My posts have nothing to do with sinless perfectionism. That is a doctrine that you must strive to be perfect or your not going to be saved, like failing the test in the slightest part dooms you. God simply forgives and does not remember any of your sins, in relation to having eternal life. or not having it. If God says I am a just man made perfect, then I am so. Jesus told us you shall be perfect even as the Father in heaven is perfect. That perfection is accomplished when he makes us born of God and we have been spiritually perfected, we are the just men made perfect of Hebrews 12. Hebrews 8 tells us how the NEW COVENANT works, But many people mistakenly follow the OLD covenant thinking. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 13 In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. In that is said 'WE HAVE COME', signifies this is the reality right NOW, You seem to love your sin and sinfulness more than the righteousness freely given by God to those He has made accepted in the Beloved. Hebrews 12 22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the [j]general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
