John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Let's look back to God's love.

Thanks for your response. From it, I feel the Lord Jesus' love and salvation. I hope I can have more communication with you. Today I read these Bible verses, “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:1-11) (kjv) From these Bible verses, I see that when the wise men saw the young Lord Jesus, they fell down and worshipped Him. Their attitudes towards the young Lord Jesus are worth following by us. It is said in the Bible that the Lord Jesus will return, what should we do when we face the return of the Lord Jesus? Could you share your opinion with me?
  10. I see there is a message in my Unread Messages, but when I click it, I see nothing. I don't know why, Could you do me a favor?

    Is God the Triune God?

    Is God the Triune God?

Thanks for your response. From your fellowship, I understand God is unique and there is not the saying of the Trinity. I think your spiritual experience is rich. I'd like to discuss another question with you. Several days ago, I visited a relative who has some spiritual gifts and she can speak in tongues and even can interpret tongues. I was curious about these and I tried to follow what she did, but I failed to do. Do you have these spiritual gifts? What's your opinion on spiritual gifts? I am looking forward to your response.

Jesus the King of God's Kingdom

Yes, just as the Bible verses says,"Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." (Matthew 24:40-44) (kjv) But in our church, many sisters and brothers are passive and weak, and some even have left church. The elder in our Church has made an effort to help these sisters and brothers, but they are still passive and weak. The one thing I can do is praying for them.

I am a 16 year old who needs help with his parents.

You worry about your father and hope he will be interested in God again.Your will is good. I think what we can do is praying to God for your father, besides, you should help him, such as reading the Bible with him, sharing the testimonies of sisters and brothers with him and so on.
