John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Husnain Rashid, an ISIS extremist who is serving a 25-year sentence in prison, was attacked on July 25 by a fellow inmate with a makeshift knife at Strangeways Prison in Manchester.

Rashid, 32, who is best known for his terrorist plot to poison young Prince George, was sliced by a weapon that was devised from a toothbrush and a razor, the Daily Mail recently reported.

A source at the prison told the Daily Mail: “There was blood all over his cell and the landing. Nobody likes him or what he did, like threatening that young royal lad and all the ice cream stuff. We don’t tolerate that kind of thing in Strangeways.”

According to witnesses, the large slash started at Rashid’s right ear, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Rashid encouraged group members in internet chat groups to target Prince George at his school and suggested that British football stadiums would make the best terrorist targets.

He also suggested injecting cyanide into fruits and vegetables at grocery stores, and poisoning ice-cream in supermarkets, as well as suggesting to attack fans at the World Cup in Russia, the Inquisitr reported.

Rashid pleaded guilty to three counts of engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts and one count of encouraging terrorism, and he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

An investigation has been launched to determine how Rashid was attacked.
