John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Daniel 7:28

KJV 28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

Darby 28 So far is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my thoughts much troubled me, and my countenance was changed in me; but I kept the matter in my heart.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

We all have had things in our life that caused us shock and changed how we felt and gave us this feeling but how did we act this out, do we do right? Did we un? Where did we run if we did? We need to let experiences like this draw us closer to the Lrod and to be more obedient to His will.

Also Dan 7:15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
and Dan 8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
plus Dan 10:8-11
(8)  Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
(9)  Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
(10)  And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
(11)  And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.

Hi clark, I'm sure there are things that trouble us and cause us to seek God for relief and deliverance. In his narrative Daniel is experiencing some very intense and supernatural episodes that were not understood by others (Dan 8:27).  You mention shock and I would add trauma to this where the result is Post Traumatic Shock Syndrome - PTSD. Some people prefer not to speak of their ordeals and have difficulty being around those who are likely to bring past bad experiences to mind. On the other hand some people continually recount their nightmare experiences and thrive on reliving them to anyone who will listen. Out of our own times of desperation and disturbance we are able to minister to those in similar circumstances.

Generally I believe God wants us to have peace of mind and tranquility of spirit coupled with a fervent desire to diligently do His will.

1Th 4:11 And that you study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
