John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Trump Warns NATO Allies to Spend More on Defense, or Else

By Julie Hirschfeld Davis

July 2, 2018

WASHINGTON — President Trump has written sharply worded letters to the leaders of several NATO allies — including Germany, Belgium, Norway and Canada — taking them to task for spending too little on their own defense and warning that the United States is losing patience with what he said was their failure to meet security obligations shared by the alliance.

Yeah, that's basically what they are getting and have been getting for a long time.  This message is well overdue.

That's what I say, "oh well."  Trump is shutting off the gravy train, and it will benefit this country, and will ultimately benefit those other countries in the long run.  They couldn't reasonably expect the US to prop up their defense systems forever.

Agreed.  That's true but they probably act like they expect it forever.

Europe in  general is NOT liking the straight talk from Trump. He's supposed to be "elite", understanding that America owes the world recompense because as we all know the US is the source of all the world's problems so we need to show how to lead with generosity, compassion and restitution.

Bunk ~grumpy.gif

NATO was setup as a collective effort against Soviet aggression. Now we find out Germany is getting natural gas from Russia. About 70% from what I gather. A rather bad position to be in considering Germany is a member of NATO.

So Trump called them out on it. So who is the ogre? Trump of course.

Now he's in Britain. Same straight talk. Same reaction.

Oh well.

Trump is spot on.

The party's over.

Seems to be a fair amount of protesters for his visit Erdogan visited not too long ago and there weren't any protesters, coincidence I don't think so. Sounds like someone made the rounds of the pubs and gave all of the lushes a few quid to go protest Trump...
