John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Make a law that forces the separation of illegal immigrants from their kids when they come over the border and get caught (circa 1997 Bill Clinton, thank you very much).  The republicans are now forced to enforce this law.  The liberals feign ignorance about the past and become outraged the republicans are supporting this law.  The republicans are now forced to do something about a law the liberals are actually responsible for passing.

Rinse and repeat.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/06/20/donald-trump-signs-executive-order-to-stop-separating-families/

The order instructs his cabinet members and the Department of Homeland Security to maintain family unity by detaining illegal alien families together and provide or construct adequate facilities to do so.

——————————

Ok. So everyone got what they wanted. The families will no longer be separated.

But that wasn’t why all the hubbub anyway now was it? And that sure as heck is not the desired solution for the left.

Waiting for a narrative from the left to surface ......

From what i gather Trump began enforcing the laws on the books. That meant separation if criminal offenders were held or for instances of wanting asylum. Not sure how those laws work but it meant separation none-the-less.

I seriously doubt Trump caved as mainstream media is portraying. I think Trump knew full well what was going to happen and wants immigation dealt with by bringing this to a head. Sure does demonstrate how bad the laws really are doesn't it?

The law makes sense to me, otherwise children brought in by child smugglers may be detained. This law, if that was the intent to begin with would prevent that.

Here's what Ted Cruz said:

"You know, you think about it, when someone gets arrested for a crime -- let’s say an American citizen gets arrested for a crime, for murder, for burglary, for whatever — if you’re arrested for a crime, you’re separated from your children, you’re put in prison. If you’re the only caregiver for that child, then you’ve got to find alternative care for those children. That is often another family member or, if need be, it’s a foster family or some other means to care for kids. That is the inevitable consequence of somebody being arrested for a crime.

"This is an issue that, I think, the media has largely constructed because what’s shifted is that the (President Donald) Trump administration is endeavoring if people cross illegally to arrest them, not to let them go--and so if they have kids, you know, there is actually a court order that prevents keeping the kids with the parents when you put the parents in jail."

And here's the actual Flores v. Reno settlement:

God bless,

William

This is from today (with a leftist spin) Wed 9:30 AM, Jun 20, 2018:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Bowing to pressure from anxious allies, President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday ending the process of separating children from families after they are detained crossing the U.S. border illegally.

It was a dramatic turnaround for Trump, who has been insisting, wrongly, that his administration had no choice but to separate families apprehended at the border because of federal law and a court decision.

The news in recent days has been dominated by searing images of children held in cages at border facilities, as well as audio recordings of young children crying for their parents — images that have sparked fury, question of morality and concern from Republicans about a negative impact on their races in November's midterm elections.

Until Wednesday, the president, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and other officials had repeatedly argued the only way to end the practice was for Congress to pass new legislation, while Democrats said he could do it with his signature alone. That's what he did on Wednesday.

"We're going to have strong, very strong borders, but we're going to keep the families together," said Trump who said he didn't like the "sight" or "feeling" of children separated from their parents.

He said his order would not end the "zero-tolerance" policy that criminally prosecutes all adults caught crossing the border illegally. The order aims to keep families together while they are in custody, expedite their cases, and ask the Department of Defense to help house families.

Justice Department lawyers had been working to find a legal workaround for a previous class-action settlement that set policies for the treatment and release of unaccompanied children who are caught at the border.

Still, Trump's order is likely to create a new set of problems involving length of detention of families, and may spark a fresh court fight.

Also playing a role in his turnaround: First lady Melania Trump. One White House official said Mrs. Trump had been making her opinion known to the president for some time that she felt he needed to do all he could to help families stay together, whether by working with Congress or acting on his own.

Nielsen traveled to Capitol Hill Wednesday afternoon to brief lawmakers. And members on the fence over pending immigration legislation headed to the White House to meet with Trump.

But what about those seeking asylum? The kids are separated in that instance more than situations of criminal behavior other than just crossing the border illegally.

I dont know. Its a mess alright.

But whats the first thing you do if an overfilled bathtub is flooding the bathroom?

Turn off the faucet.

Build the wall and stop the flow.

Right, Liberal/Democrats are misleading immigrants into thinking there is no penalty for entering the country illegally.

Questions: Does one need to prove that they are fleeing or seeking asylum from criminal activity? And if they are going through Mexico why do they not seek asylum while Mexico openly receives asylum seekers?

I dont know how those laws work for seeking asylum but I remember hearing about how illegals were being coached to use loopholes to their advantage a few weeks back.

They knew they would be separated from the kids due to the laws that govern seeking asylum.  They chose a course that meant they would not be with their children. Asylum.  And thats something else that was not being reported.

I just dont see the advantage for the left in making this such an issue at this particular time.

To make immigration something for them to run on during the midterms then that means they cannot agree to anything. Yet Pelosi pretty much gave the green light to all this by asking “Where is the outrage?” just last week.

Time will tell I suppose but it does puzzle me.

You may very well have a point there.

Serves rather well to distract from the FBI concerning Hillary’s server doesn’t it?

Because they thought if you kept the whole family together they would have to be released (catch and release) or given amnesty instead of prosecuted then shipped out, they aren't going to get what they want and heads are going to explode...

Yes it does, but it's also a strategy to try to politically pressure Trump into doing something he doesn't want to do, that way they can tell the base "See we've got him now" and their Lobbyists "How much money do I get for this"???

He doesn't want to solve this thru Executive Orders which can be overturned later he wants to pressure both sides into doing legislative immigration reform. One side wants them for cheap labor and the other wants them for a voter base which is why nothing has been done in the past, he has to figure out a way to force them to act even if it means embarrassing them...

Doesn't seem like it really matters if true or not.

Here's a bit of reading but it shows the problem began with the Obama administration. The mess created drew little attention until, as we see going on now, Trump took office. Now it's all being blamed on Trump even by the people who supported the creation of this mess in the first place.

Flood of Illegal Immigrants Now Includes Gang Members

https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/immigration/item/18490-flood-of-illegal-immigrants-now-includes-gang-members

Among the thousands of illegal immigrants — many of them unaccompanied minors — pouring across our southern borders are members of notorious gangs, including MS-13.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer was probably the most prominent individual voicing concerns about gang members being among the illegal aliens. In a June 12 letter sent to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Brewer wrote:

Our country is in the midst of a crisis manufactured by President Obama and his administration's refusal to enforce our nation's immigration laws. As a result, thousands of people from Central America — including unaccompanied children — are flooding into the United States and not fleeing from, but surrendering to, United States Border Patrol officials.

Hillary Clinton: Unaccompanied Child Migrants 'Should Be Sent Back' To Central America

https://www.alipac.us/f12/hillary-clinton-unaccompanied-child-migrants-should-deported-322316/

In separate television interviews with Fox News and CNN on Tuesday, Hillary Rodham Clinton faced a number of difficult questions, among them about immigration and the recent surge in unaccompanied minors crossing the border with Mexico illegally.

After talking about the need for comprehensive immigration reform, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour asked the former Secretary of State a number of times what she would do about the child immigrants if she were president, but the presumed 2016 candidate at first dodged the question.

We have to send a clear message: Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay.
- Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Clinton spoke about the cause for the increase – "the main reason I believe why that’s happening is that the violence in certain of those Central American countries is increasing dramatically” – and expressed the conviction that the U.S. needs to do more to help Mexico secure its own southern border.

“Should they be able to stay here?” Amanpour pressed again, adding, “It’s safer.”

“It may be safer, but that’s not the answer,” Clinton responded.

“So you’re saying they should be sent back now,” Amanpour said.

“They should be sent back as soon as it can be determined who responsible adults in their families are,” Clinton finally admitted.

The former First Lady went on to add that, “We have to send a clear message: Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay... We don’t want to send a message that is contrary to our laws, or we'll encourage more children to make that dangerous journey.”

Illegal Aliens Increase Use of “Magic Words” to Claim Asylum

http://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2016/12/07/illegal-aliens-increase-use-of-magic-words-to-claim-asylum/

Most recently thousands of Haitians who have been living in South America since a 2010 earthquake in their home country have swarmed northward, claiming asylum when they reach California. They were arriving at a rate of more than 100 a day.

Central Americans have also caught on, helping feed the surge of children and families straining border operations in Texas.

But the Obama administration, while aware of the loophole, has not suggested any changes.

“U.S. Customs & Border Protection has not sought legislative or policy changes in regard to credible fear claims,” agency spokesman Daniel Hetlage told The Times.

Asylum is the political protection granted to foreigners who are already in the U.S., or who arrive at its borders. It is distinct from the refugee process, which is for those still living outside the country but who ask for its political protection.

Those showing up at the border who don’t have permission to enter, whether caught by Border Patrol agents or encountered by a CBP officer at an official port of entry, are supposed to be asked a series of questions to figure out if they were being persecuted back home.

If they say they fear being returned, they are put on the asylum track, which involves interviews and hearings to evaluate their claim.

Most of those who are claiming asylum will eventually be rejected, and are supposed to be deported. But because of a 2009 Obama administration policy change, Homeland Security no longer holds them while their cases are proceeding, making it easy for them to disappear into the shadows with other illegal immigrants.

“Since that policy change, as we can see now, the number of these aliens has skyrocketed and the wonderful job our border patrol agents do has been all for naught,” said Dale Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of the IRLI, which pursued the open-records request on behalf of the Federation for American Immigration Reform.

How can you control the flow of illegals when the children they are crossing over the border with belong to other people ? There is absolutely no effort to see if these so called " displaced children " even belong to the people looking to enter our country . Or even worst is the fact that nothing is being done to check the criminal backgrounds  of ALL of these people ! I say,""" BUILD THE WALL !! ""   The liberals are fed a line of propaganda with the fake media trying to convince them that the separation of children from their parents all started with Trump ! The liberals only want to allow free passages over the borders for one reason . And that is to secure the votes of the illegals once they rush them through make-shift  citizenship process riddled with lies and deceptions . Remember folks, every illegal that makes it through is another American job lost to an American citizen .

Migrant teen: 'You could hear them crying all the time'

Trump picks Navy veteran as top counterterrorism official

Time magazine is defending a cover that critics claim inaccurately depicts a migrant child as being separated from her parents, insisting the "cover and our reporting capture the stakes of this moment."

"The June 12 photograph of the 2-year-old Honduran girl became the most visible symbol of the ongoing immigration debate in America for a reason," a Time spokesman said in a statement provided to CNN on Friday.

"Under the policy enforced by the administration, prior to its reversal this week, those who crossed the border illegally were criminally prosecuted, which in turn resulted in the separation of children and parents," the spokesman added. "Our cover and our reporting capture the stakes of this moment."

The latest issue of Time shows a cover illustrated with President Trump looking at a 2-year old crying girl, with a caption reading "Welcome to America."

It quickly went viral amid media coverage of the administration's policy of separating children from parents awaiting prosecution for crossing the border illegally. Approximately 2,300 migrant children have been affected by the policy, which Trump halted with an executive order on Wednesday.

The father of the girl in the photograph, though, said in a Thursday interview that she was never separated from her mother. He said the child was only briefly kept aside to allow border agents to conduct a pat-down of the parent. It was also reported on Friday that the mother was deported in 2013, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Conservatives slammed the cover after it was revealed the parents were never separated from their child, calling it another example of "fake news" and liberal bias.
