John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

U.S. Justice Department says Obamacare individual mandate unconstitutional

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department said on Thursday that the part of Obamacare requiring individuals to have health insurance is unconstitutional, an unusual move that could lead to stripping away some of the most significant and popular parts of the law.

In a brief filed in a federal court in Texas, the department said a tax law signed last year by President Donald Trump that eliminated penalties for not having health insurance rendered the so-called individual mandate under Obamacare unconstitutional.

The Justice Department said that also nullifies two other major provisions of Obamacare linked to the individual mandate, including one barring insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in a letter to House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, said he had determined the individual mandate will be unconstitutional when the tax law becomes effective in 2019.

Schumer Bashes DOJ for Not Defending Obamacare Lawsuit

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer ripped the Justice Department's decision to not defend the Affordable Care Act's constitutionality in a lawsuit brought by 20 Republican attorneys general.

"The ACA is the law of the land and DOJ should defend it," the New York Democrat said on Twitter.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that the February lawsuit by Texas and 19 other states argued that last year’s action by Congress to eliminate the healthcare law's tax penalty for the individual mandate rendered the law unconstitutional.

The Justice Department, in a brief filed in U.S. District Court in Texas, said the Trump administration essentially agreed with the lawsuit's premise — arguing that, in turn, consumer insurance protections under the law are also no longer valid.

Another piece of Obama's so-called legacy is chipped away.

The younger crowd wasn't buying insurance anyway, a key part of Obamacare needed to help pay for it.

They were never going to buy it for a multitude of reasons, this was known up front and was going to be one of the reasons used to go to single payer. If that had happened you might have seen CW II..
