John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

All who are in Christ have an a prosperous life, just not like properity preachers would call a prosperous life.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life more abundantly.

Romans 8:28 We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

These verses speak well on the subject.

1Timothy 6:5-10.

We absolutely have a prosperous life, we are all coming into a big inheritance soon, even though we don't deserve to be called sons.

What do you mean by prosperous? If you mean worldly prosperity, then look at the lives of the Apostles and first century Christians. The Apostles suffered for Jesus' name sake. Even in discipleship they were not to carry more than a few days wages with them, always in faith that the Father would provide for them. First century Christians were too murdered and martyred for the faith, facing an end which was sometimes horrifying.

Personally, I do not believe God would tempt us with the very same thing which corrupts and damns us. Worldly riches or the accumulation of wealth is not the prosperity of Scripture, but a Godly life centered around the Gospel which changes our worldview is. Jesus is not teaching us to be successful in the world, but He is actually calling the Elect out of it to live an abundant life which is the life of a steward. Stewardship is not the measurement of what materialism we have received, but is the blessings (mercy, peace, love, grace, wisdom, etc.) which we share with others.

God bless,

William

Whenever I seem to have more than I need for my immediate future, I start praying because there must be a reason we became over endowed. I expect God to guide me either to save it for whatever He designates, or it must belong to some needy cause.

I don't think a person could be a money hoarder and be a good steward at the same time. There are too many charities that are really helping people for us to hang on to large sums of cash. I consider we are giving to God when we help those that have nothing. I could not invest it in a large mansion which is more than I need. I will settle for my mansion in the New Jerusalem.

The prosperity gospel is right in believing God wants us to be prosperous.  Their error is in thinking of prosperity as being something we experience in this life.  Jesus told us we should lay up treasures in Heaven.  That is true prosperity that we are to seek.

Thanks to God we have prosperity in New Jerusalem in heaven, but we also have a cultural mandate and not only in heaven but also in a secular world

Cultural mandate is something we are given to conquer in this secular world, does it relate to abundance or prosperous life

I have to leave my abundance since I dont understand but it could be stumbleth, Since I lesser know about abundance life and I quite distinguish of abundance and prosperous life, maybe abundance term is for poor like rich in simplicity, and prosperous and its theology is for the rich

Jesus be with us, thanks
