John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Maybe someone else knows about this.  I just updated my win 10 Lenovo Edge 2 with microsoft today.  The notice had been up for about 2 days so I let it go forward.  Took about 45 minutes and when it came back on line I could not get signed on with my PIN but had to use my microsoft account #.  I get not wifi or desktop icons on screen.....it is essentially useless.  I am going to try MS in the AM and see if anyone else has had this problem but was hoping someone here might know something.  Probably going to have to get a boot disc from lenovo to fix it.  Anyone know anything similar happening?

Thx

You mean you can't even log into Windows? There is a control panel like previous versions. The sprocket can be seen at the windows pop up menu lower left of screen. There you may find network connections or account management.

Nope.....the only Icon I can get on desktop is the recycle bin.  The task bar has the windows icon but it does nothing left or right click.  I have no access to any programs....it is the weirdest thing I have ever seen.  I am beginnng to think I will have to do a complete wipe and re-install......not liking that at all.

Personally I think Windows 10 is the best os yet from Microsoft. Unless you can enter a safe mode and try creating another account/desktop I haven't any ideas.

Whoopeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!  I was searching for fixes on my tablet and came across this bit of info:

On Win 10 from the sign in page if you press/hold the shift key and select Restart from the power icon it restarts and goes to a repair page.  I selected restore previous version and here I am.  Now I got to try to figure out why the bad install......bad disk or other hardware, out of date drivers, etc.  Guess i will start with a hardware scan and disk check.  But good info to have.  Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

When you did your install did you download the OS? I couldn't get the auto upgrade to work so I downloaded the operating system to a USB drive and installed through it. Other than that the upgrade from Windows 8 to 10 went smoothly. I did have to go to the manufacturer website to find various drivers.

It downloaded on the 21st and I installed on the 24th....my laptop came with win 10 and previous updates have gone smoothly.  I went and looked today and it says the update installed correctly and it is currently on my computer so I don't know what the heack is going on.....

Had the same problem....only way to fix it according to MS is do a "clean install."   Did that, everything worked perfectly.  I am now running Win 10 Pro, Build 17134.112 with no problems, and the updates/patches go smoothly.  I am running an ancient HP 6350 with 8 GB RAM, 3.4 GHz CPU, 250 GB HDD and an external 1 TB HDD.  zI delete, or disable most of the MS stuff and install open source software (Think Apache Open Office or Office Libre, for example), including my clean up tools, antivirus/antispyware, power defrag, driver updater, etc.

My Lenovo T420 went bonkers when I upgraded and my HP Desktop fell completely under 10 and every time I booted windoze it rewrote my Boot Script and discarded the Linux installation on the back half of it's HDD.  Both have 8 & 7 back on them  and I have rewritten the Boot Scripts, GRUB to successfully boot either OS.  Windoze only got stupider with 10.

It is funny you responded to this BT.  MS just released a 'critical update' last Friday and my computer went bonkers again.  I got the blue screen of death for almost anything I did.  And each screen seemed to have a different error code.  It said windows detected an error and was going to reboot the system.  Sat, Sun, and most of Mon I spent trying to diagnose what was going wrong.  I tracked down the error codes and how to correct them and got some software and finally yesterday it seemed to stabilize.....I have not had the blue screen of death for almost 2 days so I think it is mostly fixed.  On Sat & Sun it was so bad it would not even let me do a restore and reload windows.  It still seems a little slow but any more error codes and I will track those down for solutions also.  I am with you......I HATE MICROSOFT.

In the 3.0 & 3.1 era I was part of a local club and we spent most Saturdays debugging MS Software for single users and I would not even say "Linux" but all my conclusions changed with my first day of hands on experience with Ubuntu and when I found Mint for windoze users I went nuts converting Computer Users to Linux.  Most people are not like me but with any of the  Linux Debian Dlstros that have evolved from Linux Ubuntu do well because of the GUI being intuitively thought out and difficult to abuse from the web.

Haven't tested this myself because I do not use Windows 10 "Pro".

Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise editions can change update behavior by using the group policy editor. The PC should then notify you of an available update but will never install said update without your approval, let alone restart the machine.

Start > Run > gpedit.msc

Once loaded, go to Administrative Templates > Microsoft > Windows Updates

Find the entry called 'Configure Automatic Updates', double click it and configure like so:
