John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Mixing Metaphors

I thought I would see if there are other people as creatively sarcastic as myself.  I enjoy mixing my metaphors and am interested if there are others who do the same.  To get us started here are some I have come up with:

It's not rocket surgery

It's like watching paint grow

It's like watching grass dry (which is possible)

Not the sharpest hammer on the tree

Not the brightest knife in the bag

Hi Knotical,

I hope you haven't got "Witzelsucht", otherwise known as the Joker Syndrome.

There is a time and place for laughter and merriment but lest we be carried away and distracted by these to our detriment,  the Word of God does give some guidance: Rom 14:19, 1Cor 10:23, 1Th 5:11

We don't want to confuse the world more than it already is, or get bark from the wrong tree.
