John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

How does that effect him now? He was in his teens, many young people who are much older now were involved in sexual sin back then. I don't think this was something he should resign now for. However he knows what God has put on his heart.

With so many older men who are pastors that have been involved in sexual sins now, and have to be forced out of ministry, this one sure seems odd.

The article states that pasor Hughey defended himself by claiming the the sexual relationships were consensual. Whether or not this is true is irrelevant; whether consensual or not, they were a violation of the standards set by the Bible.

He was a young man. Many people when they were young made sinful choices. Does that eliminate them from ministry forty years later?
