John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

They keep falling deeper and deeper in to new age ... So very sad to me having been raised in that denomination ..

1Ti 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1Ti 3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

1Ti 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

1Ti 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

1Ti 3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

Tit 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

Tit 1:8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

Just Mike

How many large, liberal, conservative, moderate, full faith or whatever kind have given way to unbiblical ways?

I was raised in a American Baptist, I went to an American Seminary, yet that denomination has become a denomination where women are encouraged and trained and placed as pastors. The American Baptist Churches of the USA now is a social gospel denomination. I would no longer suggest any solid Bible believing man consider going to an American Baptist college or seminary. It brakes my heart.

And it only took a century for sexism to erase itself from the assembly.

There is neither Greek , nor Jew, nor Gentile, man, nor woman. We are all one in Christ.

Someone in the assembly must have actually read that verse. Good news.
