John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

G'day Brothers and Sisters!

We're migrating away from our current software. I plan to begin the migration come this Sunday the 29th of April. I hope we will not be down for long.

We should not lose any posts from our migration. You will NOT need to create a new password etc as all your information will be migrated to the new software solution.

If all goes good I hope the site will be back up and running within a few hours of beginning the migration. Things will be rocky at first as this will be a learning curve for me learning a new software. The look and feel of the current software will be day and night different. However, I am convinced the new software will take us into the future, whereas we have hit the end of the road with our current software.

God bless,

William

I could begin anytime Sunday. I may attempt after coming home from church rather than chancing it before church should something go wrong.

Weekends are usually our slowest traffic days (hopefully everyone is at church). I'm shooting for noon Pacific time come this Sunday after church.

God bless,

William

Looking good so far. I don't envy you your "learning curve". Usually my learning curves look like circles that always seem to go nowhere and wind up where I started. LOL!!

It's a lot of work and a lot of time given. The Lord does indeed lead us in differing ways, down many differing paths to achieve His purpose. God be with you!!

The black background for some reason makes my spell-checker hard to see.  Everything else is just a matter of some learning changes; like how do you edit a post once tou posted something? Also it keeps saying my post has to be approved before it is posted, but that does not seem to be the case.

Most of the newness is a matter of just getting used to it.

I'm "tweaking" the template now. Expect tuning throughout the course of the coming weeks.

At this moment I'm just trying to learn what is where.

Like you said, big learning curve.

I see that each forum has the option to require moderation for new post or post replies. I had to change the permission for each forum. That was rather time consuming.

Other than that I love the step we just took. I do believe it was in the right direction.

Silas, are you using IPS on any of your boards?

God bless,
William

Hi @William, I am getting a notice that says my content has to be reviewed by a moderator. Is this the case until some number of posts are reached?

No, it is a permission issue that I'm trying to correct. Seems you did not need moderation approval to make your last post. Please lemme know if the issue persists.

God bless,
William

We can expect slower traffic and less signups for the next 4-6 weeks (estimated). The conversion/migrating process didn't convert the old pages to the new through a 301 redirect. The search engines must reindex the entire site.

I'm sure Christforums.org will come back stronger than it was before.

God bless,

William
