John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

“I said to him, ‘What do you need it for?’” Trump said. “I don’t want to put a man through a process like this. It's too ugly and too disgusting.”iq6jWOmJd1M

This raises the question, will Trump just make appointments and bypass the confirmation process? It would yield to the accusations of authoritarianism, but get something done.

can he do that?

i didn't know he could

i assumed his hands were tied

if so does that mean in 2024 his unapproved appointees are automatically out of a job?

I think he can appoint anyone he wants to a vacant position, they just aren't officially hired until they get past the Senate.

Does that mean PT could just cooperate with the Senate's stalling tactics, and work indefinitely with an un-official staff?

I'm not a political animal and I honestly have NO idea. I don't see why he couldn't? And I do see him as having plenty of reason to do so, despite it being yet another controversial move.

Who sang the song, let's give 'em sumthin to talk about? And, "to boldly go where no man has gone before" Lol

The question is, would it work? Would the Senate come around and be reasonable, bringing appointees up for consideration, behaving civilly, and affirming if there's no clear reason to dismiss? If so, that would be great leadership. If not, at least he'd have a staff to work with, which would still count as leadership?

i heard that mitch mcconnell could force everyone to stay in session until they debated and voted - meaning if they want to go home at night or for the weekend they need to do business
