Christian Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

I already cited three different sources which affirm what I am asserting.

Well, consider your misquote of Grudem on another thread why should I take those citations on face value?

I wrote that Christians are not under the command to obey the 7th day Sabbath. You disagreed which is ridiculous.

As long as you continue to assert that I am defending a view that Christians are under a command to obey the 7th day sabbath you continue to misrepresent me, and you refuse correction (that has been offered repeatedly) in regards to what I am saying - I am sorry but while you insist on that type of behavior there is no point in my pursuit of this 'conversation'  all I am doing is allowing you to perjure yourself more thoroughly and I don't want to do that!

Then you shouldn't have gone against what I originally asserted by making yourself clear.

I have done many times, and you refused to acknowledged it repeatedly - and it was you who went against what I originally said (if I recall rightly), all I have been seeking to do is defend my original statement that you questioned. The 6/1 division of the week is established in creation, and remains a moral imperative for us today, we are not under the ceremonial/ legal rules of observance that were given in the Mosaic Covenant - but nevertheless we remain under the moral imperative and we will continue to do so until we enter into our final sabbath rest in the new heavens and the new earth. In just the same way as we remain under the moral imperative not to steal or not to commit adultery. In fact I would argue based upon such passages as the sermon on the mount this moral imperative goes far deeper then the mere outward observance demanded by the law. If grace is greater then law, then our response to grace should be greater then the response to the law ever was.

Can I interject a thought or is this in a debate form -- Didn't the day of worshiping change to the 1st day of the week because that's when Jesus Christ rose from the dead?  We got a Risen Savior to honor / worship.

I need to rescind that comment - it was in error Grudem was not not misquoted.
