John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Water is water. The water is not the same as when Jesus was Baptized, it may not even be close to where Jesus was Baptized, its all symbolic and very costly to go there to be baptized. I am a realists and this all seems like a show to me, but what do I know right? How much better to give the money it took to fly round trip and other expenses to a missionary a church start up any Christian project. This seems selfish and showy to me.

Odd. I thought Roman Catholics baptized their children shortly after birth.

They sprinkle, don't they?

And I also think it's odd.

I agree -- lots of show.
