John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Thank you for allowing me to make a few replies to post. But it would be redundant for me to stay, this is a Protestant forum after all. And from what I see, there is no place for InterChristian discussion unless it is to defend Catholicism. I know you are not knowledgeable about other things like Orthodox beliefs and this does not concern you.The Body of Christ will remain divided until the appointed time.

God has it all under control. The things these denominations have in common are: The belief in the Incarnation, the Holy Trinity, and Baptism. These are really the only things which unite us in dialogue. And even those things may have different meanings to us. But since it is Christ who established "His way"

it will be His way or the high way for many. Well thanks again. Peace and God Bless!

To whom does the "you" (which appears twice) refer to?

I would urge you to stay - who knows one or two people here might know a thing a two - and maybe one or two of us might learn a thing or two as well.

"GodIsMyJudge" -- aren't you the woman who has an interest in prophesy? I've looked forward to having conversation with you.
