John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

I was prayed for by all kinds of Christians when I most needed it, and so it was natural for me to want to pray for others also

when they really need it. Thank you, Jesus, for answered prayers.

He saves us from evil, and guides us in our journey.

I loved the late Billy Graham. Still love him in the Lord, and have attended Baptist churches, and Assembly of God churches.:RpS_thumbsup:

I loved the late Billy Graham.

Yes, Billy Graham was (probably) a once-in-a-lifetime phenomena. When my siblings and I were kids (must have been in the 1970's) my parents took us to see Graham preach at McCormick Place in Chicago. I wish I had been older at the time because I probably would remember it better. I love watching him on TV when they show the old films of him preaching at his many crusades. He was a born evangelist.

Sorry about this double post. There was some sort of server error and it looked like it didn't post the first time. Does anybody know if one can delete one's posts?

Hello and welcome, @2002 ! I share your admiration of the late, great Billy Graham who is surely at home with our dear Lord. The Lord truly worked through this man so that many souls would be saved.

@Eric T. Double post was a new issue that began today but should now be resolved.

Yes, I saw Billy preach in Memorial stadium in Baltimore about 1976.

He and his team were outstanding. He was the real deal!

He still is the real deal in a new place, (Heaven)and I believe that.

Welcome 2002, we are the same age. Billy had a much deeper effect on people in 1950 to 1970 that most afterward. We will likely never see that type of large crusades ever again. My parents supported him financially all their lives, my wife and I went to one crusade and she went to three. Many people were introduced to Jesus Christ for the very first time under Billy's preaching. His words live on today, as he was filmed and recorded for history.

It was 1975 that I saw Billy and his team at the great crusade at Memorial stadium in Baltimore.

Wow, it was something! Wife and I went forward to accept Jesus even though we were then

already saved and members of a fine church. It was our one chance to see him speak in person.

In my case, 2002 refers to the year of my healing from my near fatal illness. I will

write about that when I can. God bless you all in Jesus!
