John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Welcome larry2, it's great to have you among us. I notice that you don't list a denomination, and give the reason of not belonging to some man made organization using the following scripture. 1Co 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? Are you really serious?

You go further saying you came out of Catholicism, Evangelic Free, Baptist, and now attend a Christian undenominational assembly when you're able to with no membership, other than being of the One body of Christ made up of all who have called upon the name of the Lord we read of in Rom 10:13-14? What's the matter with you?

Aren't your following doctrines absolutely strange to some? You once preached against receiving the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in tongues, and then you claim to have experienced that when you sought to find more about it. Next you believe that you're actually saved forever; are you kidding me with all the wrong things you've done even after receiving Christ as your Saviorr, and even now you break the laws of our land, and the leaders God puts into positions of authority for our good by breaking the speed limits, and you remain committed to God you say?

Wow, I have no idea what to say. You believe in different dispensations: 1 Cor 9:17, Eph 1:10, pre-trib (Rev 4:2), and mid-trib (Rev 7:14 & Rev 14:1) catching up of saints to be with the Lord, and you go so far as to believe that all in Christ do not qualify to be Jesus' bride (Rev 19:7-8) where it says his wife hath made herself ready. (Not works to be saved Tit 3:5), but by her righteousness (actually righteous works).

Now I turn you over to these brethren that'll get you straightened out; good luck here old man. :)

Welcome to Chrisforums larry2. I think you will find the folks here a lot less judgemental than you expect. That is from what I gleaned about your post. How we express our differences say more about us than our differences. I forward to sharing with you.

Welcome Larry to the forum. I don't know of anyone here on a regular basis that is not a sinner saved by the Grace of God. I surly can't imagine any more love than what Jesus Christ did by taking my sins to that bloody cross. Enjoy the fellowship.

Welcome.

Denominations are only man made if the man goes outside of or contradicts Scripture in belief and practice.

I don't speak for everyone, but all of us here are baptized by the same Holy Spirit and so are of one body.

Braking the speed limit isn't too good, are trying to kill somebody! Lol.
