John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Good morning,

I'm going to start by saying its a wonderful day here in the UK; the day is clear and shall be blessed.

My name is Josh and its a pleasure to be a member here; I have to say, I'm loving the graphics of this site! :RpS_thumbup:

I look forward to meeting other brother and sisters here so we may share the wonders of Christ and this earth that was carefully constructed for us to enjoy.

Oh, before I forget, I chose the username PureLight as this is what God provides - only clarity and truth.

I'm going to have a little explore now; especially how to update the avatar. :RpS_confused:

Hello and thank you for your welcome. I have been a Christian (although should say sloppy Christian) for about 6 years; I am committing more to my walk nowadays even though its hard at times, however we must trust the Lord.

I currently do not attend a physical church in the traditional sense, however I intent to at some point; I did however use to go to a church on Sunday evenings which was more modern - I have to say I'm pretty traditional and prefer a traditional church with beautiful architecture.
