John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Prayers for justme

My kidneys have now taken a serious turn for the worst. My kidneys are dumping magnesium. I have been taking 630cmg of magnesium a day for several years, but now the kidneys are dumping it instead of holding it. The next step looks like weekly IV's of magnesium. This is a very serious situation as it means my kidneys are now entering a much slippery slope. I am very discouraged.

Please pray for my depression

Prayers are with you. My dad's brother was on dialysis for 7 years and my dad also had kidney issues, though late in life.

I will definitely pray for you. Just remember that Christ is your strength and that He will never fail you. "Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God" Acts 14:22.

I'm curious, how much meat and dairy do you consume on a daily basis? These foods are well known to cause a lot of toxin buildup, which the kidneys have to clean up, and a high protein diet also causes the kidneys and liver to work overtime to rid the body of all the excess garbage. Just some food for thought. God bless you as you continue to look to Jesus for your strength.

Thank you all for your prayers. My depression has passed.

This problem of my kidneys dumping magnesium is not new, but has been controlled by taking large amounts of it. Last year in February I went into acute kidney failure, which lasted into May. Then last November and into mid December I had kidney stones that stayed put for 19 days. The stones eventually passed, but stones remain in both kidneys and hopefully they stay put. All this has relieved there is something else causing these problems. The doctors are doing tests this week to see if they can find a reason for what is going on. We expect some information within two weeks. Several specialists have been consulted which is very unusual as my kidney doctor is considered on on the states best kidney doctors. He is a Professor at the University Medical School, so I do have the best working for me, besides the Great Doctor of all Jesus Christ.

God bless you all, and thank you so much for your continued prayers.
