John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Have you studied the 2300 days / 70 weeks prophecy in Daniel 8 & 9?

Recommended Posts

"Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed" Dan. 8:14, "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city" Dan. 9:24. I have attached a study guide I made a while back if anyone is interested. It covers the amazing prophecy of the 70 weeks that prophesied to the exact time when Jesus would come as the Messiah, being anointed at His baptism. That is why Jesus could say at the start of His ministry: "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." Mark 1:15. God bless!
