John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Hey everyone,

A friend of mine is passing from COPD, he's going tonnight if not by the time I finish posting this. He's at peace with God and is ready to go, he even cracked a few jokes the day the doctor told him he had a week to live. His family is in need of prayer.

Stay strong in Christ and be blessed

I'm so terribly sorry. It seems the good people die young. Well, he's in a better place now. We can all be comforted by that and we'll see him again I have a big hug in store for all those of my relatives that I will see again and I know that his family will have the same for him..

Isn't God glorious that we can do that. Praise the Lord.

Sorry brother for your loss, I am praying. My grandpa died of COPD. It's a rough disease, but we can be thankful that all suffering has an end and we have the grace of God to get us through. God bless.

I have COPD. I am sure not nearly as bad as most, but it can be a real difficult thing to deal with. I am so glad he is ate peace with Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:27 he will be with Jesus when he finally leaves this pilgrimage here on earth.

You are a wonderful friend to ask for prayers for his family. I am sure this has had its effect on you Innerfire89. You as well are in my prayers. God bless you and your friend and his family.
