John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

What’s your spiritual gift

Recommended Posts

God has given me discernment of the spirit. I can sense someone’s intentions. If there’s a spiritual presence I can tell whether it’s from god or not.

That's great! I believe I have the same gift. I find it difficult to know exactly which gift God has given me, but I feel discernment has been the only one I can really see and understand, and I thank God for it; although sometimes it can be overwhelming to know people's intentions before they even speak. God bless!

I think its important to better function in the body to know your spiritual gift. How does your gift function in the church you belong to. How has this this effected your spiritual life so far?
