John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Why would a god loving take advantage of others

Recommended Posts

I had a woman take advantage of me monetary gain. She claims to be a god loving Christian. Why would who loves god takes advantage of the less fortunate.

Here’s what happened. I can’t be angry with because she was just doing her job

bought a car I August of last year. I was pressured to buying add-ons by the finance manager. She did do her job but I disagree with how she did it.

Other buyers leave reviews about what a wonderful person she is I disagree. I feel that she's a horrible person. I don't like the she bullies people into buying things they don't really need. I feel she preys on the less fortunate and enjoys it. If I were to confront her about this she'd probably dodge the issue. I would want to know why she enjoys taking advantage of people who are less fortunate then her. However i probably won't get the answer and she'll lie about her motives to "save face". The is part of me that wants to go to the dealership and beat her so she'll know how I feel

Also this whole situation has manifested its self into a deep attraction to her and me wanting me with her.

What this woman did deeply hurt me. However over time I learned she may have not done it by choice.

I feel like this woman looks down on me and if given the opportunity would hurt me again. I feel that if given the opportunity she would sabotage me simply because she feels that I don’t deserve to succeed.

A lot of people believe they are Christians when they aren't. If this woman was one of them it would explain her actions. Of course it is hard to form an opinion on this without hearing her side of the story.

Hi @palsera27, I agree with what @theophilus has said, that it is hard to know for sure why you were treated badly.

It may be that she doesn't have anything against you personally, but that she is too concerned about increasing sales. Sometimes in business it is easy to focus on profits and to forget that our customers are people. They look like $$$ instead of someone created in the image of God.

Why would god put her in my life. She is a difficult person. I have her a positive review “took the high road”

I ask god to tell me why he put her in my life and he tells me to teach me and that I will see. Could it be possible that’s she woman of Titus?

Also a learned that in that she has struggled with addiction. That she killed someone in a car accident. Despite this choices he made she has excelled.

I made bad choices as well. One that cost me a promotion and ruined my career plans

And apparently , according to more of your post -- this is causing you to be deeply attracted to her. Part of the sales 'thing' is encouraging people to put more money into extras. The buyer has the option of saying 'yes' or 'no'.

How would you know if she's a God-loving Christian. Is she someone you met at church and she said to stop by the dealership and she'd see what she could do for a good deal on a car for you? Sounds like you're disappointed that the church friendship didn't extend into the professional part of her life. Lots of people are boundaried that way. They will talk tennis while on the tennis court / talk theology at church // but they Won't mix the two.

And that same thing could happen when looking for a house. A Christian realestate person who goes to your church or is a neighbor -- wants to sell you a particular house -- they get a higher percentage by selling you the bigger, more expensive home. But you can't really afford it, so you disappoint them by saying No to the bigger house deal. The friendship disappears and there's disappointment on your part. You Thought you were friends, but they were out for a possible profit and you didn't provide it for them. Such is life. Money Does speak.

Sounds like her friendship meant more to you than it did to her. Sales people are trained to be friendly. Their goal is to make that sale. Their friendliness can be fairly shallow.

Why would god put her in my life. She is a difficult person.

Perhaps this is the reason.

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Romans 5:3-5 ESV)

God sends suffering into the life of Christians to develop us spiritually. Sometimes that suffering consists of people with whom we come in contact. Whatever the reason you should thank God for sending her into your life. God had a purpose and his purposes are always for our good.

People frequently come into a persons' life and then leave their lives -- that's part of life. People's jobs move them -- choices in education -- lots of things. We're a very mobile society. We simply learn to adapt.

We learn from others -- we learn that there are lots of different personalities in people.

Let me address the issue of buying a vehicle. All Finance people have one job, MAKE MONEY FOR THE DEALERSHIP. The Finance people are the very best sales people in the business. Many people think the Finance people are just to find financing for your vehicle, no, no. They are experts in sales. They sell you Gap Insurance, Paint and interior protection, Extended warranties, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Tire Rotation and balancing and tire replacement for the Life of your loan Term. If the Financial person is very good they can measly add $4,000.00 to your sales contract.

Do not feel bad is you feel taken advantaged of, as this has happened to many of us at some point in time in buying a vehicle, This happened to me and my wife in 2014. The finance manager added gap insurance, paint and interior protection, extended warranty, and life insurance. He suggested because we were in our late sixties this would likely be our last vehicle and it would be a wise choice to protect our "INVESTMENT". My health is always in question so we added life insurance. We got sucked in big time. WE should have known better. He played on our weakest point, our age. As it turned about six months later we dropped the Gap insurance. The lender refused to drop the life insurance. After 38 months the vehicle no longer served our need, as we now needed a truck with a V-8 engine that could tow 10,000 pounds. This time we bought only the truck NOTHING else. Sometimes we have to learn by experience. And as my wife has said salespeople with all their wonderful friendliness, and the Finance person with all their wanting to help you are NOT your friends. These people are there to take as much of your money as they can. That is their job, they earn their living by selling you all they can besides the vehicle.

Now this woman may well have been using Christianity as a way to get you to buy a vehicle. Sales people listen to you and key into what you have said about your self and use that to their advantage. Some woman salespersons use their looks, their ability to show an interest in you, flirt, show their body, anything to make a sale,

The WORLDLY people want your money, and are experts in getting you to give your hard earned money over to them without you feeling a thing until a little while latter."Buyers Remorse" is what many people experience once they realize they are not happy with what they purchased, be it a computer, cell phone, vehicle, or a house. Most all of us has experienced "buyers remorse" so its part of life's lessons. Blessings.

@justme --you are So Very right.

I am not alone in experiencing the very best sales persons a dealership can find, the Finance person. They make more money for the dealership than anyone else, and they make the most money in anyone in the dealership. I have a couple of friends who worked in a dealership who told me some of this. Also YouTube has a lost of very good instructive places to learn how to get the best deal you can.

My personal experience in paying too much was valuable to share. After watching YouTube we went full armed last October, we had our own financing, we knew how much our trade was worth, and how much we would spend for their truck. But before we did anything we prayed about this. We asked God to either help us find the truck we needed and would be able to fit within our budget, or end our search with no results. Not only did all our requirements happen but was much below our budget. We believe God answer's our prayers when we take the time to ask for His Will.

Let me tell you about the best $20 bottle of water that I ever purchased. So I had a shower that, no matter how much I scrubbed the plastic door, I simply could not get the soap scale to go away. One day some lady comes to the door selling a miracle cleaner that is so safe and non-toxic you can actually drink it (which she does). She demonstrates how this wonder cleaner will easily remove the soap film from my shower door (which it did right before my eyes) and I was delighted to pay $20 for a cleaner that would remove that stubborn film. An hour later, the surface dried and the film was back. It seems that anything that will wet the surface will make the film disappear for a while, and return when it dries. The ingredients that I payed $20 for were identical to cleaners available for about $1 at any supermarket.

I have always felt nothing but gratitude to that lady and her $20 bottle of cleaner. Over the years, she has saved me thousands of dollars. Every time some deep authoritative voice calls on the phone looking for money for the State Police Fund, I remember that $20 cleaner and realize that I am NOT talking to a state trooper and the money I give is unlikely to benefit any state trooper. The job of a salesman is to sell, if I enter the conversation with any other expectation, then I am setting myself up to buy another $20 bottle of water.

We have opportunities to learn valuable lessons. Do not waste them, learn from them.

William, we bought three trucks from the same salesman, he was a guy that used to work in the service department and worked on vehicles. He got hurt off the job and the dealership offered him a sales position. His personality was his best asset, and he knew the brand of vehicles like the back of his hand. So he had a great combination of things to make a super sales man. Within a year he was top salesperson for several years, He was offered a position with the guys that make the approve the deals, and do the appraisals on trade ins. He was making big bucks, he had so much more to do than as a salesman. As he learned of things he felt were more unethical than he was taught to do in sales, the pressure was so great he quit.

I talked to him afterwards he wished he had stayed in sales. The dealership owners wanted high pressure tactics to bring more sales, he would not go along with that, so he left. Shortly after he quit, the owners fired most all of the sales force, and the guys behind the sales station, and brought in a group that changed everything.

Now in front of the store is huge signs on the cars saying "$10,000.00 off today only" and of course "Nobody beats our deals" "If you find it cheaper we'll give you $100.00" The new group took all the window stickers out of the new cars. So if you were looking at a car the sales people would say lets go inside and look at the window sticker. I guess they thought once insides they had a better chance of selling you a vehicle. I hate that kind of trickery. No window sticker and I leave.

William you have lost of experience and wisdom. In our almost 49 years of marriage we have purchased many new vehicles. My experience in buying used vehicles is, if there is 1,000 used vehicles on a lot with one bad lemon in the lot, I ll pick it every time, even after having having a specialist check it out. I have worked in a shop where I took out the engines, hot tanked the parts and steamed cleaned the parts, helped reassembly the engine and then reinstalled it. So I know a lot about engines.

Frankly I was very ill when we bought our 2014 RAM 1500 Crew Cab and because the finance guy knew I was quite ill he took advantage of my weak point. That has been the only time that has happened. I am a loyal MOPAR guy, and have bought quit a few over the years, in fact we have not bought any other brand for 35 years. WE like the way the RAM 1500's ride and their gas mileage. Our 2017 RAM Big Horn 4X4 Crew Cab has more room and better equipped than many new cars. It has the 5.7 Hemi with 3:92 gear ratio, and can tow 10,160 lbs. So far we got 21 mpg just before the gas switch to winter gas, now we get 19,5 mpg. Because it was a 17 and the 18 modes just came out in Sept, and we bought it in Oct. there was a a pretty big discount which made is aforadable.

I live 115 miles from my Doctors and health clinics. I went 3 times this week and usually we put on 12,000 or miles a year or more for medical reasons we put on a vehicle, so used vehicles don't work for us. Also we live in a very remote rural area on a very steep 1 mile gravel / rock road.

We do not have any Costco's except in one area of our state. That's why we did not use it. We did use being a VET and being a Loyal FCA customer discount. WE did well by what all the internet helps said.

Well, unfortunately, there is a lot of people whom claim to believe in Jesus, but by their actions, deny him. That is why Jesus claims there is a wide gate and a narrow gate. They honor him with their lips but their hearts are far away. One must be following Jesus and carrying there cross daily to be one of his disciples. We know they are his disciples if they love one another. But not everyone whom claims to be a Christian, is in fact a Christian. Deceivers are everywhere.

It solely depends on the person. A God loving person can never cheat another person. If she is really cheating you or any other person, she can't be God loving person. Though, you must not keep any hard thoughts about her. You need to take a lesson from the incident and move on. If you love him, the father, you need keep your heart pure and free from hatred.

Welcome to the real world . And it seems like you have been introduced  to a rude awakening . Called the world, the flesh and the devil. She had every intention of hurting you. But rest assured that "What goes around comes around ." God has a way of " getting back " at people who take deliberate advantage of the less knowledgeable among us. But she isn't aware that God is in control and he has a "big surprise " waiting for her when she least expects it . The best way to handle this is to put it on the back burner and pray that God will remove any memory of it from your mind, heart and imagination.  We all experience unpleasant memories of things that have happened in our lives. But we cannot rely on ourselves to settle them . It only gives way to self righteousness and pride. Let it all in the hands of God .    M

This quote is not in the bible, but I thought I would mention it for your sakes. " Ours is not to reason but to accept and believe ."  This holds true with God as well  .  God holds the sovereign right to try and test us in order to see how much our Christian service has advanced . And in doing so He sometimes brings  unpleasant providences and people into our lives that we don't ordinarily expect . The primary reason that we must be prepared to meet and accept these building blocks that God uses to test our faith is also to take advantage of something the world is estranged to . And that is prayer and supplication . There is no excuse for us to fail at what God is doing . Not when we have the

privilege of multiple promises to support us in our most difficult times . Not only that but God is with us in our weaknesses by His gracious Holy Spirit that prays for us when we do not know what to pray for. Read the promise in Romans 8:26-27 . It's time to understand that the children of God and the children of the world are two entirely different entities . Your responsibility is to have faith and yes,,,,Jesus said it " Love your enemies ,be good to those who spitefully use you, forgive and pray for them also ."  That is not possible unless we can rid ourselves of self love and self righteousness. Do not fret, it only brings harm. Ps.37:8 .    M
