Community Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

After drifting away from Christianity a little, I am now coming back to it. I am here on this website to learn, and to connect with other like-minded people

Greetings and welcome, @Chasinglight ! Please feel free to ask whatever questions that the Lord lays upon your heart to ask. You'll find us a community of fair- minded folk who love to talk about our own experiences with faith and there are one or two scholars among us who would be happy to fill you in on some of the finer points of doctrine in whatever form of Protestantism you wish to explore!

Yes, welcome @Chasinglight, we are glad you found us.

By the way @ConfessionalLutheran, for some reason your "motto" of the 5 Solas reminded me of the Cambridge Declaration, which I think is really helpful. Have you ever seen it? Here's the link to the PDF: http://reformedresources.org/the-cambridge-declaration-pdf-download/

Sorry, I realized that that link didn't allow easy access to the document. This link to the the Cambridge Declaration will work better.
