Community Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Net neutrality?

I hear the isue of net neturality being repealed has raised its head again in the US. I am surprised, after the mess it has made in Portugal, that people would be in favour of this. No matter where a person is on the political spectrum, blocking people who disagree shouldn't be a precedent anyone wants to set because it can be reversed so quickly back on them.

ISP being able to block or filter political candidates they don't agree with, or networks belonging to rival groups (an example I've seen given is CNN partnering with Comcast and blocking or slowing Fox). How long would it be before Media giants and entertainment groups simply dropped or blocked Christian content that didn't agree with them or criticised their products? With many religious groups being voluntary, how many would have the funds to keep their content accessible, or in front of people?

Why does this keep coming up?
