John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Right brother it is an update of the HCSB. For the most part I have found it reliable. In the multitude of counselors there is safety. I also use the ESV Study Bible. Thanks for your input. The NASB is the most literal but at times it doesn't read well (to me at least)

I love the ESV translation, and the ESV Study Bible's commentary as well. I also agree that the NASB doesn't real well at times, which is just one of the reasons I feel that we are so very blessed to have access to so many excellent translations these days!
