John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

"Pray Prince George is Gay" says Reverend

Recommended Posts

In a statement that has caused outrage across the UK, and condemnation both sides of the press, the Very Rev Kevin Holdsworth* of the Scottish Episcopal Church released a statement that Christians should pray:

“for the Lord to bless Prince George with a love, when he grows up, of a fine young gentleman”

apparently because he thinks this would force the Church to support same-sex marriage. Critics have pointed out that thinking of sex and a four-year-old child in the same statement is disturbing, and Lee Gattiss of the Church Society asked Is he saying no one can “pray the gay away” but you can pray it into someone?’

It is one of the rare situations where papers across the spectrum from the Leftwing The Guardian and the Rightwing Daily Mail have agreed this is unacceptable.

(*this is the same Reverend who arranged a reading of the Muslim Sura that states God has no son at the cathedral's Epiphany service.)

The land of Whitefield Bunyan,Haldane and Owen is now the land of perverts in the pulpit. Pray the Lord that he sends modern day Whitefield's to Great Britain
