John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Thanks to a note scribbled in Spanish from Pope Francis, Margaret Archer is also an activist, sheltering victims of human trafficking in her English home with the help of her parish.

I guess so we understand what over a billion people will be influenced by in order that we can effectively run damage control.

Im more concerned about what the new Chinese leader is up too.

@William. This is one of the most liberal of popes, some would say an outright Marxist. Former RC myself and my wife still is with much of my family. Some are more inclined to follow the pope than others. I find the best way to deal with them is with Scripture rather than attacking the pope and Rome. So I guess for me what the pope says matters little. I do however understand your point

Its important to know where many denominations are thinking these days. I keep track on the Southern Baptist, because "I are one". I find it very odd that anyone would not want to know what is going on in the World with the different religions. I find the Pope to be totally unchristian, but none the less so much of the World is RCC. and inorder to dialogue with a RCC I thinks its wise to keep up.

Rome never changes. They may change their methods but they never change. That is one thing they take pride in. They oppose Christ in the guise of Christ. To the world they are the Christian Church to us who know the Scriptures we are better informed. We know for all their pretensions to the contrary they are Anti Christ and not Christian.
