John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

A very good reason to be prepared spiritually for Anything. When we have assurance of being with Christ immediately upon our death, then death shouldn't be a fearful event for anyone. Sometimes it's what a person has to endure while alive that is worse. When the enemy knows that we don't fear death, then they don't want to kill us. They would want to see how we really react to suffering. To see how we'd react to seeing friends / family being tortured. So -- how much are we ready to experience. I realize that these are somewhat morbid thoughts this close to Thanksgiving and Christmas, but that's some of what Does happen in other countries Now to real people.
