John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Becoming a Titus 2 Woman

Recommended Posts

Some of you may know that Tabletalk magazine now has a new website. Well, I think it is really good, and it makes a good stop on my circuit of places to visit online. Anyway, today as I was waiting for my snow tires to be installed, I read this article in the current print edition. I don't remember hearing of Susan Hunt before, but I think she did a good job with this. See what you think of it.

Lots of good food for thought. Challenging.

Maybe if more men would be the spiritual leaders they should be, there would be more Titus 2 women.

Hi @palsera27, welcome to the forums. A Titus 2 woman is referring to the description of godly women we are given in the Bible, in the book of Titus, chapter two:

But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. 2 Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. 6 Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. (Titus 2:1-6)
