John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Our church has had a few men that only one or two others are aware of that carry. I encouraged our pastor to have the church council make a plan for emergencies of several kinds. To be unprepared for health, fire, earthquake, and tornado, and yes even an attack we must be fully prepared.

I have no problem with having a gun with me when we travel, or go into a larger city. As mature seniors we have been taken advantaged of in the past which has made my wife and I to be more alert from now on.

I believe it is every husbands responsibility to provide for and protect his wife and family, and it just might be that a man should be proficient with a fire arm. I am, and it has mainly been because we live in an area that we have pests like drop off dogs that have killed our live stock, our pets, and attacked our outside pet cats. Raccoons have been the most problem over the years, and we have been forced to trap them and mercifully terminated them humanely.

City people may not understand what people that live in rural areas have to do to protect their homes and land.
