John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Hi @fairystar, this is an interesting topic. Here's the way I look at it, others may see it differently.

The global climate has gone through long cycles. There have been both warm and cold periods in the past. We have, since the end of the latest ice age, been in a warm period, and even within that long period, there have been warmer and cooler times. It is true that recently temperatures had been trending warmer, but it is not clear (to me anyway) that the cause of that warming is human activity. Perhaps we helped a little bit, but I don't think we are the main cause.

Climate modeling is very difficult and I don't think the science is to the point where we can really predict what will happen or what exactly all the factors are that control it. I think it's clear that most of the "global warming" or "climate change" hysteria is motivated mostly by politics.

And remember, if you have to choose, it's a lot better for it to be warmer than for it to be colder. For my money, it can stay warm as long as it wants to (or as God wants it to) because the alternative is a lot worse.

That's very true
