John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Do Christians and Muslims Worship the Same God?

Recommended Posts

Elda

If Muslims view Jesus as a prophet, and not as the only begotten son of God, the savior of man, are Muslims worshiping the same God as Christians worship?

Why would Muslims accept Jesus as a great prophet, but denounce him as the Son of God?

Islam is thw most wicked religion that Satan has ever invented. Islam is the enem of Christ and every Christian. It is our duty to witness to Muslims. God so loved the World that He sent His one and only Son that who ever believes on Him will have life everlasting. John 3:16 justme's version.

What I've found interesting in recent years are the numbers of religious groups that migrate to the U.S. compared to the numbers of countries who allow foreign missionaries into their countries. Foreign missions appears to be coming to Us. Only thing is that we are Very hesitant to accept the Muslim people who are in this country as being 'authentic'. They are determined to take over the world with their belief system. And they are 'told' to kill the infidel. And infidels are those who aren't Islamic in their faith. Are we ready / willing to die for Our faith?!

Now - more than ever - believers need to get together to encourage each other. Reminding one another than This world is Not our real home -- but that Is world is the only one where unbelievers Can become Believers.

Thanks, @Sue D. this is very true. As I have gotten older and become more aware of my infirmities and of the hostility of the world to the things of Christ, I feel more and more that I am just a pilgrim, looking for the Celestial City.

No, they are not. Lets look at your statement, if Muslims reject Jesus as the only begotten Son of God and only claim He is a great prophet then they have rejected His divinity. If they have rejected the Second Person of the Trinity, then the God in question is not Triune. If their God is not Triune then He has different characteristics and attributes.

I agree and would have to conclude the same is true of Jews, who reject the deity of Jesus

If someone asked me if I knew who Tom Hanks was and I said he's a plumber it would mean I'm not talking about the same Tom Hanks.

Right Sue D. It is time for Christians to stand for their faith and be willing to die if need be.Christians must put aside their petty differences and be about their Father's business. The world can do politics but the world cannot proclaim the gospel. This is what Christ's congregation is called to do.

No. Ask any Muslim if God has a son. They will vehemently answer no.. The true and living God has a son Jesus Christ, therefore Muslims and Christians do not worship the same God.

Christians being willing to put aside our petty differences ?! There are some very important differences -- what would be considered a petty difference.

I think muslims and christians are different, because in the bible it said to love your enemies, while the Quran said kill your enemy.

muslims doctrine is violent!

i just hope that some of them realize that Jesus is God. Thus be saved.

Might as well point out Mormonism while we're at. Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are brothers. It's a works based religion that says God was once a man that became God and has wives in heaven and that Jesus is the first offspring. They believe one came become a god through good behaviour.

Mormonism is not a Christian denomination.
