John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Our entire Christian life is to be "worship" rendered unto God

Romans 12:1

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. (NASB)

1 Corinthians 6:13

the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.

Romans 14:7-8

(7) For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself;

(8) for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. (NASB)

Elsewhere the Bible encourages us to have a mind set to pray at all times (Luke 18:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:17) both in sickness and in happiness (James 5:13) for our trials occur at every moment (Job 7:18).

Help us all O Lord not be so "spiritually myopic" but as royal subjects of You as our glorious King let our entire lives be centered on the absolute holiness of Your most sacred Name.
