John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

He is risen indeed!

He is not a baby Jesus in the Manger living there until visited at Christmas. He is not the convicted Jesus hanging wounded on the cross. He is not the Jesus prepared for burial and then placed into a cold, dark sepulcher hewn out of solid rock. He is the risen savior, the son of the living God, the Redeemer, the everlasting father, the prince of peace who is risen from the grave to ever make intercession for you and for me. He is risen, He is risen indeed! Let us worship Him, praise Him, thank Him and serve Him every day. Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter are days set by men. By religion. But without a reborn heart, without being a new creation in Jesus Christ those days are meaningless. We must worship Him every day of our lives for in Him we live and move and have our very being. To live is Christ and to die is gain. Be filled with His Holy Spirit and remember what He has done for you.
