John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Muhammad Ali Passing ... A Loss For All Faiths

Recommended Posts

Well I am sure that we have all heard the sad news by now that Muhammad Ali, the champ, has passed away. I just wanted to start a topic where we could all share a little something that we may have remembered about the man or anything really, because he certainly was a historic and rare figure. Just from listening to the radio the last two days I have learned a lot about him that I did not know, and one thing was that he was a man of great faith. His service is to be one of all faiths, which I think is a powerful statement and one that I really like to see.

So, does anyone have anything to say about this man? Is anyone here a boxing fan?
