John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

    • Changing Laws does not Change Hearts

The new social justice movement among professing Christians has very little (if any) understanding of human nature and the degree of our corruption. Consider, if they had free reign to enact every law and educational reform they wanted, do they honestly think it would solve the worlds problems? It would not even scratch the surface. Our problem is much, much deeper than that. The problem with humanity is pre-political. It is a spiritual problem. This denial of total depravity reveals a complete

By Michael Bastasch - House Democrats held the first hearings on global warming the chamber has seen in six years. The hearings, though, weren’t the serious policy debates Democrats may have hoped for. Rather, the hearings relied on testimonies from climate activists and even religious leaders. Top House Democrats finally got their wish to hold the first hearings on global warming in six years Wednesday, but both committee hearings meandered into discussions of civil rights, race and a

    • Want to Change the World? Invest in Institutions

It’s not uncommon for those keen to see social change or change within the church—people passionate about causes that matter to them—to dismiss institutions as enemies of their vision for the church or society. It’s often assumed that if you care deeply about social change, you are anti-institutions. If you really care about the church, for example, that means you care about “community” and people, not institutions. If you want to make a substantive difference in your town or city or country, t

By Michael Bastasch - The House Democrat tapped to chair the new climate change panel previewed her first big legislative pushes, and it’s not the “Green New Deal” being pushed by the progressive wing of her party. The Select Committee on the Climate Crisis will push for legislation on fuel economy standards “right off the bat,” the chairwoman, Florida Rep. Kathy Castor, said in an interview published Thursday. “Right off the bat, we will tackle fuel economy standards, make sure the Comme

By Henry Rodgers - A Republican National Committee (RNC) committeeman sent an email out to fellow members asking for an amendment to existing rules which would guarantee President Donald Trump become the presumptive GOP nominee in 2020 Wednesday. RNC National Committeeman for the Virgin Islands, Jevon O.A.
